     George Franklin L. "Frank" Book was born on May 24, 1860 at New Castle, Craig Co., Virginia.³ He Not enumerated with his mother in the 1870 Craig Co. Virginia Census. on June 15, 1870.⁴

     Florris Uneda "Jean" Sutphin was buried at Sunset Cemetery, 501 South Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.² She was born on April 16, 1926 at Willis, Floyd Co., Virginia. She married Norman Wade Eanes, son of James Abraham "Jim" Eanes and Elizabeth Hannah "Lizzie" Wade, on March 20, 1946.² As of March 20, 1946,her married name was Eanes. Florris Uneda "Jean" Sutphin married Victor Boone Poff, son of Guy William Poff and Ella Ree Boone, on April 9, 1975 at Moneta, Bedford Co., Virginia.^1,2 As of April 9, 1975,her married name was Poff.¹ Florris Uneda "Jean" Sutphin died on February 4, 2019 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 92.² She Florris (Jean) Sutphin Eanes Poff, 92, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 4, 2019, with her daughters at her bedside. Jean was a wonderful homemaker and mother that always put her family above herself. She was a three time cancer survivor. Jean actively volunteered with the American Cancer Society, collecting donations for Relay for Life for many years. She loved gardening, listening to music and was an avid dancer. Jean also volunteered at the Montgomery County Christmas Store, and was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church until her health declined. Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Wade Eanes; second husband, Victor Boone Poff; three sisters; and seven brothers; and a step-son, Norman A. Eanes. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Eanes Orren (Bob), Shirlene Eanes Long (Buford), Rebecca Eanes Beasley; grandchildren, Michael Bishop, Brian Long (Michelle), Robbie Long (Amanda), Brandon Beasley, Brad Beasley, Kenny Eanes (Doris), Connie Keene; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Sutphin, Patty Stanley (Ray); step-daughter-in-law, Doris Eanes; numerous nieces and nephews; her longtime special friend and caregiver, Charlotte Epperly; as well as caregivers, Susan, Eva, Angela, Melissa, and Sandra. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. on February 5, 2019.²

     William Tazwell "Willie" Sutphin married Myrtle Moles.¹ William Tazwell "Willie" Sutphin was born on July 20, 1900.¹ He died on April 2, 1972 at age 71.¹

     Rev. William Henry Book was buried at Fair View Cemetery, 3300 Melrose Ave. N.W., Roanoke, Virginia.⁷ He was born on July 4, 1863 at New Castle, Craig Co., Virginia.^4,10,6,7 He married Viola Katherine "Kate" McKenzie on March 6, 1886 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.^2,11,12 Rev. William Henry Book married Mary Davis on July 18, 1906 at Bartholomew Co., Indiana.^13,7,14 Rev. William Henry Book died on July 10, 1946 at Orlando, Orange Co., Florida, at age 83.^4,10,6 He Orlando, FL. - William H. Book, fearless gospel preacher for more than half a century, died here on Wed., July 10, at the age of 83. He had been an invalid for four years. Death came to him at the home of his son, Morris Butler Book, minister of the Tabernacle Church, with whom he had lived out the sunset years of his life. Mr. Book was born in New Castle, VA, July 4, 1963, the day following the death of his father, who, serving with the Confederate Army, was killed, along with almost his entire company, in Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg. Early in life his mother began instilling into his mind the eternal truths of God's word. In 1869, he entered school in Snowville, VA, to which place his mother and step-father, C. W. Elmore, whom his mother had married two years before, had moved. Young Book spent a short time each year attending school. The rest of his time was spent working on farms or at other jobs that he was able to find and perform. Later, he attended Milligan College for a time. When he was thirteen, he returned with his family to New Castle. The following year, in a Baptist revival, he decided to give himself to Christ. He became strong in the Baptist faith, learning the proof texts of that denomination, and was not at all hesitant about using them upon the slightest provocation Often he encountered and argued with the "Campbellites". He began his public speaking career at the age of eighteen, having in mind a law career. However, he was licensed to preach by the Baptists in 1882. In due course of time, after a succession of most interesting events, Book, under the preaching of C. S. Lucas, left the Baptist denomination and identified himself with the church of Christ, becoming a Christian only. Mr. Book served as evangelist in eastern Tennessee, following which he returned to Virginia to do evangelistic work. Later he accepted the ministry of the church at Pulaski City. The church had eighteen members and a $600.00 debt. When Mr. Book left there six years later, there was a church of approximately 400 members meeting in a new house of worship. From Pulaski City, he went to the church at Clifton Forge, VA, remaining four years. He evangelized in Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC, West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Frequently he debated with Methodists, Latter Day Saints and others. In 1905 he began a ministry, which continued for twenty years, with the Tabernacle Church of Columbus, IN. His resignation from that work was prompted by the fact that he desired to re-enter the evangelistic field and do special work. Mr. Book was listed in "Who's Who", was an honorary member of Eugene Field's Literary Society, a 32nd degree Mason, a trustee of the Cincinnati Bible Seminary, which school he helped to found, and for a number of years was a trustee of Milligan College in Tennessee and of Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. His last public address was delivered from a wheel chair to a Christian chautauqua audience in Orlando, using as his subject, "Immortality". Surviving Mr. Book, in addition to his widow, Mrs. Mary D. Book, are ten children: Abbot, Oakland, CA; Lois A., Columbus, IN; Howard B. and Mary Virginia, New York City; Mrs. Elizabeth Sugden, Norfolk, VA; Katherine M., William Henry, Jr. and C.S., Indianapolis, IN; Dorothy L., Boston, MA; Morris B., Orlando, FL. Also thirteen grandchildren. His own words, oft repeated, are as good a resume of his life as anyone could possibly give: "Born on the 4th of July, a free American and a free Christian, and afraid of nobody". on July 20, 1946.⁶

     Buford Anthony Long was buried at Long Family Farm Cemetery, Montgomery Co., Virginia.² He was born on June 9, 1948 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^2,3 He married Shirlene Kay Eanes, daughter of Norman Wade Eanes and Florris Uneda "Jean" Sutphin, on June 6, 1968 at North Carolina.¹ Buford Anthony Long died on May 23, 2023 at Blacksburg, Virginia, at age 74.² He Buford Anthony Long, June 9, 1948 - May 23, 2023. Buford Anthony Long, age 74, a life-long resident of Blacksburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Mary Long; his loving son, Brian Long; and two sisters, Martha, and Evelyn. Buford leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Shirlene Long; son, Robbie Long (Amanda); daughter-in-law, Michelle Long; grandchildren, Whitney Akers (Justin), Dana Long (Brian), Colton Long, Billy Long, Josie Long, Chasidi Graham, and Chris Graham; two great-grandsons, Connor, and Sawyer; his three sisters, Janice Price, Joyce Garthrune, and Nancy Keys; sister-in-law, Becky Beasley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Bob Orren; several nieces, nephews, and countless close friends. Buford was born on June 9, 1948. He was a hard-working man with many talents. He started out building houses, plumbing, and doing electrical work, and at age 25, he bought a backhoe from the company he was working for, soon after that he started his own business and never looked back. He did it his way! His son Robbie worked along beside him, and he contracted jobs with his other son Brian as well. The family would like to thank all the nurses and caregivers who have helped so much in the past several weeks. He will be laid to rest on his son's farm at the Long Family Cemetery. on May 26, 2023.²

     George Thomas Stump was buried at All Souls Columbarium Garden, Grace Episcopal Church, Gainesville, Hall Co., Georgia.³ He was born on March 11, 1928 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.³ He married Barbara Guy Poff, daughter of Guy William Poff and Ella Ree Boone, on September 9, 1950 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,5,2,6,4,7 George Thomas Stump died on July 27, 2011 at Gainesville, Hall Co., Georgia, at age 83.³ He George Thomas Stump, 83, lost his battle to cancer on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. He was born on March 11, 1928, in Christiansburg, Va., and although spending much of his life in Georgia and Florida he considered himself a "Virginian" first. He is survived by his soul mate Barbara, his wife of 60 years, loving children Deborah G. Thompson, Gary T. Stump, Rebecca A. Rogers, John B. Stump and daughter-in-law Lisa Caudell Stump. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and their spouses: Matthew and Angela Thompson, Eric and Monica Thompson, Roy Stump, Jennifer Stump, Beth and Clint Kinsey, Paul Rogers, Katie Rogers, Michael and Ginny Stump and Michelle Stump, as well as four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Olivia, Tyler and Ella. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marguerite Carroll and grandson, J.D. Stump. Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed aboard the USS Newmasket. The ship's tour of duty was in the Pacific and Asia theater including Okinawa, Guam, Midway, Japan, Korea and the China Sea. After his discharge he returned home and used the GI Bill to enroll at Virgina Tech becoming a member of the Corps of Cadets. As a graduate of Virginia Tech, class of 1952, he pursued a career in finance that started with Southwest Virginia Building and Loan Association in Roanoke, Va., followed by executive positions at First Federal Savings of Orlando, Fla., and at Decatur Federal Savings & Loan in Decatur, Ga. In 1974, he joined a group of other financial professionals that founded PMI Mortgage Insurance Co. where he served as eastern regional vice president responsible for recruiting, hiring and managing sales and underwriting offices in the eastern United States. After five years of air travel between Atlanta and Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Washington, D.C, Miami, Nashville and Orlando and with frequent visits to the corporate office in San Francisco he decided to get off of airplanes and return to the thrift industry. In 1978, he moved to Gainesville, Ga., as president/CEO of First Federal Savings. After of series of thrift mergers that created Great Southern Federal he served as a board member of banks located in Gainesville, Calhoun, Macon and Tifton and was elected executive vice president and a member of the Board of Great Southern, headquartered in Savannah. After conversion of the bank's charter from a Mutual Savings Bank to a public traded stock company he retired, returning to Gainesville where he was majority owner of Capital First Group, a consulting firm to banks, the RTC and Federal Home Loan Bank. During this period he was appointed by regulators to the board of directors of Fidelity Savings Bank of Delay Beach, Fla., and a director of First Federal Savings Bank of Georgia. As a member of the financial community in Orlando, Decatur, Savannah and Gainesville he served as an active participate in the business, civic and social affairs of each community. He was a member of both the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs, a director of the Chamber of Commerce in Decatur, Gainesville and Savannah. In 1982, he was elected chairman of the Greater Gainesville/Hall County Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Industrial Development Authority in DeKalb and Chatham counties and the Downtown Redevelopment Authority in Gainesville. Other community activities included chairman and director of Legacy Link Inc, director/member Chattahoochee Country Club and a member/director of Lanier Retirement Community Board of Directors, the organization directly responsible for recruiting and enabling ACTS to locate Lanier Village Estates, its 15th retirement community, to Gainesville. He was also named to the Board of Directors of Lanier Village Estates upon its charter in the state of Georgia. As an active member of the Episcopal Church he served as a member of the vestry at St. Michael's Church of Orlando, Holy Trinity Church in Decatur and Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville. In each of these parishes he served as either a warden, treasurer or chairman of finance committee. Although his business and community activities kept him occupied, the welfare of his family was always his first priority. Before health became an issue he and Barbara enjoyed a travel schedule that provided an opportunity to meet many couples who became lifelong friends and fellow travel companions. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Doug Dailey and the Rev. Michael McCann officiating. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall following a private interment of ashes in the All Souls Columbarium Garden at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Grace Episcopal Church (Stained Glass Window Fund) at 422 Brenau Ave., Gainesville, GA 30501.

     Viola Katherine "Kate" McKenzie was buried at Columbus City Cemetery, Columbus, Bartholomew Co., Indiana.² She was born on February 8, 1866 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.^1,2 She married Rev. William Henry Book, son of Henry Loving Book and Mary Ann Elizabeth Elmore, on March 6, 1886 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.^1,2,3 As of March 6, 1886,her married name was Book. Viola Katherine "Kate" McKenzie died on February 12, 1906 at Columbus, Bartholomew Co., Indiana, at age 40.² She From every corner of the city expresions of sympathy come today for the Rev. W. H. Book and family, who are bowed with sorrow over the sudden and extremely sad death of Mrs. Catherine Book at their home on Franklin street Monday afternoon. Mrs. Book was about forty-two years old and leaves a family of nine children, the oldest being seventeen years of age. She was a woman who in her short residence here had made hosts friends. Every one spoke well of her, and everyone loved her. The funeral will be held from the Tabernacle Christian church Thursday afternoon at two o'clock and burial will be in the City cemetery. The casket will be opened at the residence, 1025 Franklin street, Thursday morning from nine until twelve o'clock, and it will not be opened at the church. The funeral will be in charge of Rev. J. R. Book. of Portsmouth, Virginia, who is expected to arrive here tomorrow night. Assisting at the funeral will be Elder Jabez Hall, dean of Butler College. Elder Z. T. Sweeney and Elder William Chapple. The elders of the church will act as pall bearers. on February 13, 1906.³
