(Pat) of Keystone and Joe of Baltimore, Md; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Surface of Duhring; two brothers, T. R. Pickett of Route One, Bluefield and Joe Pickett of Beckley; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers will be members of the Bramwell Lodge No. 45. Flowerbearers will be ladies of the Community Church and the Church of Christ, Duhring. on April 24, 1956.7

Mr. Pickett was born on April 25, 1914 in Jenkins, Ky. to the late Andrew Pickett and Helen Gilmore Pickett. Mr. Pickett retired as a mine foreman after 45 years of service with the Eastern Gas and Fuel Company and served as pastor for the past 50 years, without compensation, at the Duhring Church of Christ in Duhring. He was a resident of Mercer County for most of his life, and he was a member of the Bluewell Public Service District as a commissioner. Mr. Pickett's main passions in life were preaching and teaching the word of God and his loving family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen Alice Johnson Pickett and two brothers, Alcot Pickett and Joe Pickett. Survivors include one daughter, Myra Hedrick of Bluefield; two grandchildren, Rodrick Hedrick and wife Cindy of Shady Springs, and Donna Ray and David of Wichita, Kan; four great-grandchildren, Sarah, Tim, Austin and Adam; one sister, Lana Thompson and husband Jim of Sanston, Va; special caregiver, Margaret Nelson of Duhring. Funeral services will be held at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell on Monday, May 15, 2006 at 8 p.m. with the Minister Frank Watkins Jr. and Minister Rod Hedrick officiating. Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell. Those attending the graveside rites are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Friends and family may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell on Monday, May 15, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m.

He was a member of the Duhring Community Church and was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Alcott Pickett. In addition to his mother, survivors include his widow, Ruth Pickett of Duhring; four daughters, Nellie Pickett and Virginia Pickett, both of the home, Linda Thomas of Baltimore, Md., and Wilda Bickford of Baltimore; two sons, Dale Pickett and Robert Pickett, both of Baltimore; one step-daughter, Doris Isennock of Baltimore; one sister, Mrs. Lana Thompson of Sandston, Va; one brother, R. B. Pickett of Duhrig; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel at Bluewell with Brady Burnette Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell. Pallbearers will be D. C. Thomas, Ronnie Thomas, Jim Willhite, Jimmy Lowe, Harry Lowe and Donald Hedrick. on June 17, 1979.5

Ratcliff and wife Debbie of Buckeye Lake Thornville, Ohio, David W. Havens of Bluefield, W.Va., Craig M. Havens and wife Cynthia of Montcalm, W.Va; four daughters, Shirley A. Miller and Pat Tiller of Rock, W.Va., Judy G. Norris and husband Don of Rock, W.Va., Regina S. Pennington and husband Robert of Boissevain, Va., Bernice M. Lucado and husband Bucky of Bluefield, W.Va; one brother, Kelly E. Pickett of Lake Anna, Va; special care taker, Kathy J. Hicks; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 06, 2009 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. at 11:00 a.m. with the Minister Eddie Mabe officiating the service. Women of the Moose Lodge Chapter 565 will hold a special ceremony prior to the funeral service. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William C. Thornton, second husband, Walter Noonan, and one son, Randy Thornton. Survivors include one son, Archie T. Thornton of Daleville, Va; two daughters, Mrs. Edgar (Fleta) Talbott of Grundy, Va., and Mrs. Minnie Lou Snider of Salem, Va; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church with Rev. Richard Flowers officiating. Burial be in the Thornton Cemetery at Oakvale. on October 18, 1982.4

Born in Duhring, she was the widow of Roscoe B. Thomas. Survivors include three sons, Ernest Thomas and Charles Thomas, both of Princeton, and Hobart Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla; and five daughters, Mrs. Edith Phillips, Mrs. Eula Skeens, and Mrs. Thelma Skeens, all of Princeton, Mrs. Helen Skeens of Herndon, and Mrs. Pansy Snow of Bluewell. Burial will follow in the Oakvale Cemetery at Oakvale. on May 17, 1976.5
