Born in Roanoke on October 15, 1921, to the late Thomas Roy and Leola Creasy Poff, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Vest; brother, Tommy Poff and his wife, Bernice; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Snodgrass and husband, Ira; and stepfather, W.D. Mullins. She was a sales clerk for Arlans and later Roses. Mrs. Vest was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Laura Vest; daughter, Pat and Woody Humphreys; two grandsons, Robert W. Humphreys and wife, Christina, and Jeffrey B. Humphreys; great-granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Humphreys; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara P. and Kenneth Snyder, of Staunton; sister-in-law, Jewell Poff, of Richmond; brother-in-law, Kenneth Vest, of Bridge City, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Jeanne's Elder Care for their good care. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel. Pastor Glenn Giles will officiate. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237. on August 25, 2009.2
