He was preceded in death by his parents, Jarman Frank and Lula Dent Thacker; sister, Neville Jenkins; brothers, Rupert Thacker, Caruso Thacker, Kublik "Ku" Thacker and Walter "Dee" Thacker. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Thacker; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Jean Thacker; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Jon Ratliff and Sherl and Curt Hines; seven grandchildren, Michael Thacker, Kevin Thacker, Chris Harsch, Tim Harsch, Adam Kovalevsky, Ryan Ratliff and Melissa Manning; four brothers, Frank Thacker, Bill Thacker, Elbyrne Thacker and Steve Thacker; and two sisters, Evoy Oates and Eugenia Wright. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park. on September 5, 1997.6

He was born April 25, 1921. A farmer all his life, Jack was also a logger and heavy equipment operator, and employed at Radford Arsenal and Bartlett Tree Experts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert J. and Emma Zetta Huff; brothers, Oakley Huff and wife Reba, Esley Huff and wife Gertrude, Edmond Huff, and Curtis Huff; sister, Gatha Alderman and husband Arnold. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Virgil Keith Huff, of Floyd; daughters, Janice Foro and husband Brad, Emma Jean Aldridge and husband Lowell, all of Bent Mountain; son, Marvin Huff and wife Becky, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Kelly Lewis and husband Ken, of Charleston, S.C., Gwyn and Craig of Phoenix, Ariz., Vonda Dillon and husband Gary, Shana Roop and husband Richard, all of Christiansburg, Travis Aldridge and fiancée Lindsay Elkins, of Roanoke; great-grandchildren, Trey and Lacy Dillon, Nikki and Ricky Roop, all of Christiansburg, Jessica Lewis, of Charleston, S.C; brother, Coolidge Huff and wife Lelia, of Floyd, sister, Alzora Wood, of Floyd; sisters-in-law, Ruby Huff, of Richmond, Laura Huff, of Christiansburg; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Leasa Hickman and Jennifer Aldridge; beloved family and neighbors, David, Rhonda, Tonya and Brian Sowers. Born on August 20, 1922, she lived a long, full life surrounded by family and friends. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Virgil was a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, retired from Floyd Garment Company and a hard-working farmer. She was a woman who loved God and served others; strong in spirit, kind, loving, and gentle. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Keith; her husband of 65 years, Thurman (Jack) Huff; sister, Beulah Mae Harman; brother, George Keith Jr; son-in-law Lowell Aldridge; daughter-in-law Rebecca Huff; and great-grandchild Alex Dillon. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Brad Foro; daughter, Emma Jean Aldridge; son, Marvin Huff; grandchildren, Kelly Lewis (Ken), Gwyn Foro, Craig Foro, Vonda Dillon, Shana Biter (Billy), Travis Aldridge (Courtney); great-grandchildren, Jessica Lewis, Trey Dillon, Lacie Dillon, Nikki Roop, Ricki Roop, and Logan Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Racene Keith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Ross Peacemaker, Corrine Sowers, Lucille and Lloyd Hall; sisters-in-law Lorraine Keith, Alzora Wood and Leila Huff. The family would like to express our appreciation to Amedisys Hospice, caregiver Sandra Huff and Patsy East for taking care of her beloved cat, Tom. Virgil honored the Lord all her life with a spirit of gratitude. She lived her testimony – a strong, quiet witness to us all. She loved, and she was loved. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. on May 25, 2017.1
