Via, Shannon Law and husband Paul, Stephanie Guercin and husband Richard; grandchildren, Jessica, Bailey, Jaylen, Jena, Hannah, and Vincent; as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Papi was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a patriot and a gardener. He was funny, stern but fair, and a go getter. He was a rock to his family. He helped anyone in need and was loved by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father, Gumersindo Sotelos, and his mother, Rosa Perez. Those left to cherish his memory are loving wife, Dianna Via-Dapena; daughters, Rosa Hadden and Rodelin Palmer (Allen); grandsons, Andrew and Tavi.² He was born on July 23, 1943.² He married Dianna Gay Via, daughter of Charles Wayne Via and India Juanita Donahue, on March 31, 2003 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2 Gumersindo Perez Dapena died on July 23, 2024 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 81.²

Terry, 53, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, February, 15, 2006 while vacationing in Florida. He was a 1971 graduate of Northside High School, Roanoke. Don was in Customer Service for 29 years with US Airways, having posted in Roanoke, Charlotte, Greensboro, N.C. and Washington, D.C., retiring in July 2005. He was predeceased by his parents, Luther and Helen Pollard Terry. Surviving are his wife, Pamela Patton Terry; son, Phillip R. Terry of Stokesdale, N.C; sister, Bonnie Terry of Santa Barbara, Calif; brother, Phillip L. Terry; aunts, Janie Pollard Wheeler and Geraldine Wheeler both of Roanoke; nephew, Robert "Bo" Terry of Roanoke; and two step sons, Michael Parris and Thomas Scott Parris. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to UNICEF, c/o the Atlanta Chapter, 1447 Peachtree St., Suite 530, Atlanta, Ga. 30309. Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Monday, February 20, 2006, at Oakey's North Chapel, Roanoke. The Rev. Russell Cheatham will officiate. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel. on February 20, 2006.²
