John was preceded in death by his father, Beverly; mother, Memory; sister, Susan; brother, Ron; and daughter-in-law, Alisha. He is survived by his brothers, Michael and Greg; children, Leif (Elizabeth), Neil, Elijah, and Sarah; grandchildren, Eowyn, Charlie, and August; and many other loving family and friends. John B. Wood was born in Indiana and grew up mostly in the Roanoke Valley, where he graduated high school. Upon graduation, he spent approximately 20 years working for KFC in the region, working his way from cashier to regional manager. Once John graduated from Virginia Western Community College with a degree in Graphic design, he began working for Salem Printing. John moved out of Roanoke for several years before eventually settling into a job in Minnesota this past spring. John was a loving son, brother, and father who loved spending as much time as possible with his family. He enjoyed walking, jogging, hiking, fishing, and camping outside of work, especially spending hours with grandkids walking through neighborhoods and trails. Sports, especially baseball (LA Dodgers) and football (Miami Dolphins), were his favorite things to watch in his free time. Jimmy was born on August 31, 1942, in Giles County, VA and was a son of the late Clarence Edward Fleeman and Lorene Ida Fleeman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Bud Fleeman, his sister Betty Morse, and stepson Mark Ellison. Jimmy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He also previously worked for Dupont in Richmond, VA. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy Ann Barrett Fleeman of Bluefield, WV, his sons Clarence Patrick Fleeman and wife Marie, of Bastian, VA, and Kurt Edward Fleeman and wife Melissa, of Princeton, WV, stepson Bryan Ellison and wife Kristen, of Goodview, VA, and stepson Larry Ellison of Bluefield. Four grandchildren Crysta Mullis, Hunter Fleeman, Hannah Wingler, and Abigayle Fleeman. Five great grandchildren Charlie, Nikolai, Lena and Ezra Mullis, and Jocelyn Fleeman, his sweet pea, and his sister, Lois Tabor, of Narrows, VA. Burial following in the Angels Rest Cemetery in Narrows.⁴ He was born on August 30, 1942 at Narrows, Giles Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 He married Leta Marie Miller, daughter of Clarence Graham Miller and Alice Elizabeth Humphreys, on December 24, 1964 at Rich Creek, Giles Co., Virginia.¹ Jimmy Franklin Fleeman and Leta Marie Miller were divorced on March 14, 1968 at Giles Co., Virginia.² Jimmy Franklin Fleeman died on December 21, 2025 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 83.⁴

     Herbert Wayne Candler Herbert Wayne Candler, 71, of Peterstown, WV., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Herbert was born on March 6, 1954, in Giles County, VA., and was a son of the late Robert Aaron Candler, Jr. and Eva Helen Blankenship Candler. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Crystal Renee Candler also of Narrows, VA. Wayne grew up in Narrows, VA, graduating from Narrows High School in 1972. He was employed by Celanese Acetate where he also served as a proud member of the fire brigade. He enjoyed being outdoors, riding motorcycles and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his son Jerry (wife Tegan) Candler and family of Winston-Salem, NC, sister Yolanda (husband Jack) Vickers of Conway, SC, and their children and families of Simpsonville, SC, and Kansas City, MO, brother Bruce (wife, Diane) Cumbee and family of Narrows, VA, and four grandchildren: Jeremy Candler II, Ashlyn and Leelyn Nelson, and Maddox Dunn. Wayne will be missed as a father, brother, grandfather, and friend.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at Mount View Cemetery, on March 8, 2004.³
