     William Edward Rierson was buried at West Nottingham Cemetery, 1195 Firetower Road, Colora, Cecil Co., Maryland.³ He married Nancy Ethel Delp. William Edward Rierson was born in March, 1937 at Maryland.¹ He died on August 17, 1965 at Cecil Co., Maryland, at age 28.² He Services will be held tomorrow afternoon for William Edward Rierson, 28, of near here, who was killed in an automobile accident Tuesday near Rising Sun. The crash victim's pickup truck left Maryland 273 near Rising Sun, struck a utility pole and upset as he was enroute to the General Motors plant near Wilmington, where he was employed. Mr. Rierson is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nancy Rierson; small children, Russell Edward, 1, and James Wayne, 4; his parents Mr. and Mrs. James Rierson of Colora; two sisters, Mrs. Nadine Hall, Marshallton, Del., and Mrs. Louann Smith, Newark; and two brothers, Wilson, in the U.S. Air Force at Westover Air Field in Massachusetts, and John, North East. on August 19, 1965.²

     John C. Rierson was buried at Brookview Cemetery, 125 Hopewell Road, Rising Sun, Cecil Co., Maryland.^2,4 He was born on May 20, 1940 at Harrisville, Cecil Co., Maryland.^2,4 He married Rosa Lee "Rosie" Shelton in December, 1962.^2,5 John C. Rierson died on February 20, 2018 at Cecil Co., Maryland, at age 77.^2,4 He John C. Rierson, 77, of Rising Sun , MD, passed away February 20, 2018. He was born on May 20, 1940 in Harrisville, MD, to the late James Elzey Rierson and Myrtle (Wilson) Rierson. John retired from Henkel & McCoy in 2000. He loved farming and owned his own crop farm in Greenville, TN. John sold the vegetables that he grew in his garden at the Famer’s Market. He enjoyed collecting antiques and working with tractors, often fixing up used, old tractors. John was a proud Army veteran, 3rd degree Mason of the Baileyton, TN, Lodge #520 and attended Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church. John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosie Rierson; son, John Steven Rierson; daughter, Kelly Lynette Reynolds and her husband, Jeff; two grandchildren: Nathan Reynolds; Hailee Reynolds; sister, Louann Frank; sister-in-law, Audrey Rierson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by two brothers: Wilson Rierson; William Rierson; and two sisters: Nadine Hall and Judith Rierson. Burial will follow at Brookview Cemetery. on February 26, 2018.²

     Matilda E. DeWeese was buried at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 8838 Floyd Hwy N. US Hwy 221, Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia.² She was born on November 27, 1825 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^3,1,2 She married Samuel Poff, son of Henry Adam Poff Sr. and Sarah Prillaman "Sally" Sowder, on December 12, 1848 at Floyd Co., Virginia; Matilda Dewese and Samuel Poff were married by Rev. George W. Kelly on December 12, 1848. Rev. Kelly submitted his notice to the clerks office on May 21, 1849.⁴ As of December 12, 1848,her married name was Poff. Matilda E. DeWeese married Jacob R. Conner, son of William R. "Billy Strong" Conner and Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Poff, on November 24, 1904 at Floyd Co., Virginia.¹ As of November 24, 1904,her married name was Conner. Matilda E. DeWeese died on January 19, 1916 at Locust Grove, Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 90.^5,2

She was a member of West Side Church of Christ in Salem. Surviving is her husband of 50 years, W. J. Wood; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Bonnie Sue Wood; a daughter, Martha Wood, all of Roanoke; brother and sisters-in-law, D. Worth and Mary Lucas, Floyd County; sister, Virginia Dell DeHart, Christiansburg; grandchildren, Michael Davidson, Tammy Blankenship; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel, 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2005. Eddy Gilpin will officiate. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery in Floyd. Wood, Roanoke, Virginia DeHart, Christiansburg; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd, with Rev. Layne Board officiating.      William Jacob Poff was buried at Bell Graveyard, Floyd Co., Virginia.⁵ He was born on August 4, 1851 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^2,1 He married Mary Elizabeth Rierson, daughter of Charles Rierson and Jane Flinchum, on November 17, 1870 at Floyd Co., Virginia.⁶ William Jacob Poff married Nancy Frances Ferris, daughter of William R. Ferris and Julia Ann Stump, on November 6, 1905 at Floyd Co., Virginia.¹ William Jacob Poff died on May 27, 1924 at Locust Grove, Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 72.^2,5

     Danny Lee Burke was born on December 9, 1952 at Virginia.³ He married Mary Delilah DeHart, daughter of Mower Turner "Bill" DeHart and Virginia Dell Lucas, on September 30, 1978 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^4,3 Danny Lee Burke died on August 2, 2010 at Virginia at age 57.² He Danny Lee Burke, 57, of Floyd, Va., passed away on Monday, August 2, 2010. He passed peacefully while surrounded by many loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie W. Dalton; and father, Sherman Lee Burke. Surviving are his one daughter, Jennifer and husband, Jason Gill; three brothers, Greg and wife, Sherry Dalton and children, Walker, Jamie and Beth; Mark Dalton, and children, Mark and Amber; David Dalton, and children, Leann, Logan, and Lauren; a great-nephew, Noah; two sisters, Tracy Newman, Diane Burke Yates, and children, Stephanie Yates, and children, Brittany, Jessica, and Matthew, Travis Yates and fiancée, Nikki Long; brother-in-law, Earl Yates; a cousin and special friend, Clint Carden and family; and numerous other family members, loved ones, and many employees became close friends with him at Auburn High School. Danny had a huge heart with plenty of room for many friends and always put friends and family before himself. You could catch him at the races or see him at the beach. His famous last words were "Maybe someday I'll win the lottery!" I guess in a way, he did win the lottery! He is with God now and forever at peace and sitting on the beach watching the sunset. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank all of the friends and loved ones that visited him while in the hospital. A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2010, at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Va., with the Rev. Buford Linkous officiating.
