A life-long resident of Birmingham, Mr. McWane attended Sewanee Military Academy and Mountain Brook High School, earned a Bachelor's degree from Samford University and a Master's degree from the University of Alabama - Birmingham. A loving husband, father and friend to all who knew him, he was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Ransom McWane, also of Birmingham. He is survived by his wife, Kaye Mullins McWane and young son, Jonathan Broughton McWane, and also by his brother, C. Phillip McWane of Birmingham and sister, Anna McLester McWane of Middleburg, Virginia. The funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. with interment in the parish columbarium to follow. Visitation will follow in the Parish Hall. The family suggests that memorials be directed to St. Luke's, the McWane Center, or a favorite charity. on December 17, 2003.1

     Otho Junior "Bud" Slusser Otho Junior “Bud” Slusser, July 28, 1938 - March 7, 2020, age 81, of New Castle, VA passed away alongside of his wife, Betty; son, Gene; daughter Sandra; and their beloved pet, Dixie Bell. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Slusser; parents, Oakey and Ethel Slusser; sister, Sadie Gusler; brother, Charles Slusser; great grandchild, Jaxon Slusser. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Betty Slusser; son, Gene Slusser (Melanie); daughter, Sandra Arthur (Randy); brothers, Lomax Slusser, Earl Slusser, Jim Slusser; sisters, Lillie Fisher, Rosie Welch, Louise Slusser, and Jean Hartmen; grandchildren, Travis Slusser (Renee), Nathan Arthur (Katlyn), Martina Slusser, Dakota Arthur (Jennifer); step grandchildren, Randy Ray Arthur, Brandi Arthur; great grandchildren, McKenzie Arthur, Tanner Slusser, Addie Arthur, Jace Slusser, Emma Arthur, Derek Arthur, Halie Arthur, and Randy Ray Arthur III. Special thanks to his friend, Clyde Stanley for his help in the last 4 years.1 He was born on July 28, 1938 at Botetourt Co., Virginia.1,2 He married Betty Jean Elmore, daughter of Joseph William "Joe" Elmore and Gladys Louise Caldwell, on July 18, 1960.6 Otho Junior "Bud" Slusser died on March 7, 2020 at New Castle, Craig Co., Virginia, at age 81.1
