Ryburn Stancil and burial was in Cedar Hill. Mrs. Merritt was born in Alleghany County, Oct. 9, 1880, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Crowder. She was the widow of George W. Merritt, a member of the Covington Baptist Church, the Progressive Ladies Bible Class and the Margie Shumate Circle of the Church. She is survived by a son, Wallace, at home, a daughter, Mrs. William A. Taylor, 604 Marion Street; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were: William A. Taylor Jr., Harry S. Slough, Harold B. Dressler, Franklin Rayburn Alfred, Paul Davis Jr. and Peter Byers. Members of her Bible Class and circle and other friends were honorary pallbearers. on September 2, 1958.⁷

Fred Cline in charge. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington, Va. Mrs. Puckett died in a Beckley hospital Monday after a long illness. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Springdale. Born in Greenbrier County, she was a daughter of the late John and Rebecca Hinkle Donnelly. Survivors include two sons, W. D. Crowder of Beckley and Joe Crowder of Belle; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The body will remain at the funeral home. on May 18, 1960.³

Active pallbearers will be Charlie Dovers, Grover Chinault, Lawrence Wolfe, Joe Braden, Herman Armentrout, T. B. Ludington, Haven Arritt and Harry Arritt. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbor of the family attending the service. on November 1, 1957.⁴
