William Smith Conner was born circa 1834 at Greensburg, Decatur Co., Indiana.^2,1,4 He died on October 29, 1857 at Coles Co., Illinois.⁴ He It has become my painful duty to record the death of my son William Smith Conner, who died on the 29th of Oct., in the 23rd year of his age, rejoicing in the hope of a glorious immortality, leaving his christian wife and little daughter, to mourn his absence, and as widow an orphan, to meet the storms of a sin stricken world. I feel that another cord has been broke, that bound me to the earth and that the society of heaven is worth striving for. A majority of my friends are already there. O, how I anxiously desire the time when I may say I have finished the work he gave me to do; but I wish to finish my work. I had strongly hoped in him to have left a son that would fill my place in the church of Christ, for he was truly a devoted to the cause of God, and sympathized with suffering humanity, but he is gone, gone from the friends he loved, gone from the trials and termptations of earth, gone to sing the chorus of glory, and in the language of his wife, gone to his Saviour's bosom to recieve a reward for the good he had done here. In hope of rest in Heaven. James Conner on November 7, 1857 at Charleston, Coles Co., Illinois.⁴

Stone on August 29, 1860 at Shelby Co., Indiana.^1,4 Rev. James Washington Conner Elder James W. CONNER, pastor of the Christian Church, Crawfordsville, was b. in Rush County, Indiana, Dec. 18, 1837 8 mi. No. of Rushville. His father, Elder James Conner, was b. in Tenn, and was a preacher in the Christian Church about 50 years. He is now living with his son, the subject of this sketch. Mr. Conner attended high school in Greensburg and Morristown and then went to the North Western Univ, at Indianapolis, now known as Butler University. Mr. C. has preached in Milton, Humboldt, W. Lebanon, Veedersburg, Kokomo, Rushville and also traveled in Illinois about 5 years evangelizing. He settled in Crawfordsville Jan 1, 1878. Mr. C. has been very successful as a minister, has many friends and has left his different appointments against the wishes of his congregations; is an able expounder of the truths of the Bible, and is one of the purest and best of men, exerting a happy and blessed influence upon society. He studies well his themes, in the preparation of his sermons, and speaks extemporaneously. He does not confine his study and reading to theology, but reads all branches of literature and science. He was marr. Aug 29, 1860 to Miss Olive STONE of Shelby Co. she is a granddau. of Judge COLE of that County. They have 4 children: Leona, Erastus S, Mary Libbie and Ira L. 3 of these are members of the Christian Church. The first two grad. in the city schools of Crawfordsville in 1881. Mr. C. is an adherent to the principles of the republican party, casting his first vote in 1860 for the immortal Lincoln. in 1881.⁴ He died on April 9, 1911 at Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, at age 73.¹

Joel Bernard Wilson was buried at Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska.² He Joel Bernard Wilson, son of Franklin and Mahala Maxwell Wilson, was born December 2nd, 1853, near Martinsville, Indiana and departed this life at Nelson, Nebraska January 31, 1935, aged 81 years, 1 month and 29 days. His mother died when he was seven years old. His father married again and the family moved to Osceola, Iowa in 1864. Joe, then a lad of eleven years, drove a team and wagon across the ice on the Mississippi. In the fall of 1878, Mr. Wilson moved to Nuckols County, Nebraska where he later married Margaret Orinda Littrell, and established a home there. To this union were born four children. His wife preceded him in death on April 3, 1925, and two of his grandchildren have also been called Home. Mr. Wilson is survived by his four cildren: James Franklin of Elizabeth, Colorado, Dora Nettie Schafer of Central City, Nebraska, Myrtle Josephine Basey of Grand View, Idaho, and Mrs. Gladys May Morehead of Nelson. He also leaves to mourn his departure, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives. Mr. Wilson and his family, in their long residence in the county, have contributed to the development of the country. They have always been substantial members of the community. For a number of years, since retiring from active life, Mr. wilson has made his home in Nelson. His keen sense of humor won for him a large circle of friends. He was always able to see the bright side of things and even during his last illness, joked with those about him. HIs courage and jovial disposition have helped many through difficulties. The deceased became a member of the OxBow Christian Church soon after it was organized. To the last days of his life, Mr. Wilson was keenly interested in affairs of the day. He was optimistic and gave much encouragement to others, who will miss him greatly. Funeral services were held on Monday afternon at two o'clock from the Nelson Christian Church Rev. Brooks, now of Ulysses, officiating. Burial was made in the Nelson Cemetery. At this time his many friends and former neighbors paid thier respect to his memory.² He was born on December 2, 1853 at Martinsville, Morgan Co., Indiana.^1,2 He married Margaret Orinda Littrell, daughter of James Littrel and Margaret Oldham, on June 21, 1879.^1,2,3 Joel Bernard Wilson died on January 31, 1935 at Nelson, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska, at age 81.^1,2
