     Frances B. "Fannie" Linn was buried at Union Hill Cemetery, south side of Rt. 136, 1 mile east of Mace, Walnut Township, Montgomery Co., Indiana.1,3 She Mrs. Fannie I. Conner, 96, died at 6:15 pm Friday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Estella P. Swindler, 1107 S. Elm St. She had been in failing health several years. Born April 2, 1866, in Walnut Township, she was a daughter of Joseph R. and Mary Ward Linn. She married Samuel W. Conner Oct. 26, 1887. Mrs. Conner spent most of her life in the Mace and Linnsburg communities. She was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. Survivors include the daughter at whose home she died; a son, Zeddie R. Conner of Indianapolis; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services are announced for 10:30 am Monday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Rev. John DeKruyter in charge. Interment will be in the Old Union Cemetery.3 She was born on April 2, 1866 at Walnut Township, Montgomery Co., Indiana.1,2,3 She married Samuel W. Conner, son of Marion Alexander "Alex" Conner and Angeline H. Baird, on October 26, 1887 at Montgomery Co., Indiana.2,4,3 As of October 26, 1887,her married name was Conner. Frances B.      James B. Cole "According to tradition, the first resident of Beckley was James Cole. Historian, Winton A. Riffe said that Cole, a native of Floyd Co., Va. settled at the intersection of the Kanawha and Guyandotte roads (now South Kanawha & McCreery Streets), approximately where the Memorial Building now stands, in 1842. He was a blacksmith and his shop was located on the site of the City Hall (currently Central Fire Station). After the Civil War he moved to Crab Orchard."
