He was a blacksmith and his shop was located on the site of the City Hall (currently Central Fire Station). After the Civil War he moved to Crab Orchard."

James Littrel James Littrel died at his home, seven miles northeast of town, about eight o'clock Tuesday evening. He was one of the earliest settlers in this county, and was sixty-one years of age. He leaves a family of five boys and three girls, and his wife to mourn his death. The funeral occurred from the home at two o'clock yesterday afternoon, Rev. G. I. Applegate conducting the ceremonies.4 He was buried at Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, Clay Co., Nebraska.6 He was born on March 25, 1834 at Van Buren Township, Clay Co., Indiana.6 He married Margaret Oldham, daughter of Aaron Oldham and Mary Ann Conner, on September 20, 1855 at Shelby Co., Indiana.1,2,5 James Littrel died on May 7, 1895 at Edgar, Clay Co., Nebraska, at age 61.2,1,6

Anna Mary "Annie" Littrel died on August 12, 1935 at Nuckolls Co., Nebraska, at age 78.3 She Mrs. Anna M. Felton was the oldest child of James and Margaret Littrel, was born near Eddyville, Iowa, August 24, 1856; died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris Hummerickhouse, August 12, 1935, at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 18 days. She came with her family to Nuckolls county, Nebraska, in 1873. On April 22, 1874, she was united in marriage to Geo. A. Felton who lived on his homestead in the Ox Bow community, where they reared their family and resided continuously for fifty-nine years. They have made their home in Edgar, Nebraska, the past two years. To this union were born ten children. There remain to mourn her departure, her devoted husband George A. Felton, five daughters: Alice Anna Adamson, Wauneta, Nebraska; Zella Z. Overton, Clay Center, Nebraska; Sarah E. Moore, Greeley, Colorado; Jennie J. Humerickhouse, Fairfield, Nebraska; Stella F. Kay, Marsland, Nebraska; three brothers and three sisters, Philip D. Littrel, Nelson, Robert M. Littrel, Angus, James Littrel, Wauneta, Nebraska; Mrs. Ellen Wilson, Kalama, Washington; Belle Wehrman, Brighton, Colorado; and Mahal McPeak, Montrose, California. Also twenty-two grand children and 21 great grand children. Preceding her to the Great Beyond were five children; twin infants, Chas. Alonzo, Emory Edwin, and Bertha Ruhga, a sister Margaret O. Wilson. Early in life Mrs. Felton became a member of the Christian church and remained a faithful Christian until the end of life. She lived a humble life of love, devotion and service to her home, family, community and the church. She will live on in the memory of all who knew her. Truly, she was a devoted wife, mother, friend and christian. Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Edgar at ten o'clock Wednesday morning with Rev. Cecil V. Smith, the pastor, in charge, where a large number of friends gathered. on August 15, 1935.3

Phillip Dodridge Littrell was buried at Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska.2 He was born on December 23, 1857 at Eddyville, Harrison Township, Mahaska Co., Iowa.1,5,2 He married Sarah Josephine Wehrman on April 27, 1878 at Nelson, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska.2,8 Phillip Dodridge Littrell died on May 24, 1947 at Nelson, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska, at age 89.2,8,3 He Philip Dodridge Littrell, son of James and Margaret Littrell, was born in Mahaska county, Eddyville, Iowa, December 23, 1857. He departed this life at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, May 24th, 1947, at the age of 89 years, five months and one day. He was converted to Christ March 10, 1872, and came to Ox Bow, Nebraska, with his parents in October of 1873, and put his membership in the Ox Bow church in November 1873. On April 27th, 1878, he was married to Sarah Josephine Wehrman, at her home two miles west of Nelson. In 1880 they took their membership from the Ox Bow Christian church to the Nelson church, where he remained a faithful member until his death. He was chosen deacon of the church in 1888, and in 1890, was chosen an elder which he held until his death, a total of 57 years. Mr. and mrs. Littrell celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary last April 27th. to this union were born two sons and three daughters. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Josephine, and the following children: Mrs. Edna Jensen, Nelson; Mrs. Jesse Roberts, Maxwell, Nebr; Irvin J. Littrell, Los Angeles, Calif; Paul M. Littrell, Nelson; Mrs. Verna Eckles, Nelson, Nebr. Also 19 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; one brother, R.M. Littrell, one sister, Mahala McPeak, La Centra, Calif. He was preceded in death by four sisters, one brother and a great granddaughter. He was a fine citizen, faithful to his church, mindful of his duties to his community, patient all during his failing health, an outstanding personality and loved by all. The funeral services wee held in the Christian church Monday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. C.M. Foust, of Chester, and Rev. J.W. Kennedy, the local pastor, conducted the services. The music was furnished by Mrs. Harold Wood, Mrs. Davis Smith, O.L. Aikin and Floyd Rouse. The pallbearers were the church elders. Interment in Nelson cemetery. on May 29, 1947.2

Belle Zona Littrel was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, 14800 Old Brighton Road, Brighton, Adams Co., Colorado.5 She was born on February 2, 1864 at Eddyville, Harrison Township, Mahaska Co., Iowa; I believe her year of birth was 1864 since her brother Robert was also born in 1862.5 As of September 18, 1880,her married name was Wehrman.5 She married Frederick Augusta "Fred" Wehrman on September 18, 1880 at Nelson, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska.5 Belle Zona Littrel died on March 17, 1945 at Brighton, Adams Co., Colorado, at age 81.5 She Belle Z. Wehrman, daughter of James and Margaret Littrell, was born near Eddyville, Iowa, February 2, 1862, and died March 17, 1945, after a long illness and confinement to a hospital for the past eleven months at Brighton, Colorado. She became a member of the Christian Church at the age of thirteen and has been a faithful member till her death. She was married to F.A. Wehrman September 18, 1880, near Nelson. They lived around Nelson except five years spent in Kansas, till 1919 when they moved to Brighton, Colo. They were priviledged to spend their sixtieth wedding anniversary together in 1940. Mr. Wehrman passed on later that year. To this union were born one daughter and seven sons: Mrs. Lillian Stahl, Burns, Oregon; Wm. C. of Nelson, Nebr; R.L. of Hudson, Colo; C.C. of Premont, Texas; J.C. of Bellflower, Calif; John R. of Brighton, Colo; F.C. of the U.S. Navy at present stationed at San Diego, Calif; and V.A. who preceded her in death less than a year ago. Besides her children she is survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren, three brothers, R.M. Littrell of Edgar, P.D. of Nelson, James of Wauneta, Nebr; and Mrs. McPeak, Glendale, Calif. Also several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was a cheerful, happy person and loved her church and family and friends. Funeral services were held on the afternoon of March 21, 1945, at the Jones Memorial Chapel in Brighton, Rev. R.D. Lowden, her pastor, was in charge of the service, assisted by a former pastor and dear friend, Rev. F.E. Day of Denver. All her living children were present at this service.
