Mary Ann Elizabeth Elmore was buried at West View Cemetery, New Castle, Craig Co., Virginia.1,4 She was born on April 28, 1843 at New Castle, Botetourt Co. (now Craig Co.), Virginia; Her obituary has a birth date of Apr 25, 1843.1,4,6,7 As of May, 1859,her married name was Book.6 She married Henry Loving Book in May, 1859 at New Castle, Craig Co., Virginia; It appears that the marriage record was destroyed when the Craig County Court House was burned by the Union Army during the Civil War.7,6 Mary Ann Elizabeth Elmore married Clifton Walker Elmore, son of Elder Andrew Jackson "Andy" Elmore and Elizabeth Murray "Betsy" Walker, on May 19, 1867 at Craig Co., Virginia.3,1,6,7 Mary Ann Elizabeth Elmore died on August 7, 1925 at New Castle, Craig Co., Virginia, at age 82.1,4,2,6 She Mary E. Elmore, daughter of Joel and Katy Elmore, was born in New Castle, Craig Co., Va., April 25, 1843. She was married to Henry L. Book, and to this union was born Frank Book, deceased, and William Henry Book. Her husband was killed at Gettysburg, July 3, 1863, in Pickett's Charge. She was married in 1867 to Clifton W. Elmore, and to this union eight children were born: Edward E., Kate Murray (deceased), Charles Ernest, Ottie Jackson, Robert E., Arthur W., Mattie Pearl, and Chauncey D. Elmore. Of these sons, three are ministers of the Church of Christ. William Henry Book has been for twenty years the minister of the great church at Columbus, Indiana. Robert E. Elmore is one of the editorial staff of the Christian Standard and a teacher in the Cincinnati Bible Seminary at Cincinnati, Ohio. Charles E. Elmore is located at Richmond, Va., and doing evangelistical work. Sister Elmore fell asleep in Jesus at her home in New Castle on August 7, 1925, all her family being with her at that time. With the exception of a few years residence at Snowville, Va., she spent her life in New Castle. When young, she became a Christian, being baptized, as it is understood, by Dr. Chester Bullard, a pioneer minister of the Restoration movement. Although past 82 years of age, and ailing a good deal in her last days, she was faithful in her attendance at the Lord's house, and in her last illness more than once expressed a desire to live to attend "the meeting", meaning the District Convention that is to meet here this month. The minister felt at home in her house, knowing her sympathy with his work. Funeral services were conducted by her minister, the writer, assisted by A.M. Fox, a former minister here, on the Lord's day afternoon, a large congregation attending, and there were many floral tributes. Her daughter and her husband have a noble son who has expressed a desire to be a minister. Truly, she rests from her labors, and her works do follow her. on August 15, 1925.7
