Anne Caroline Roberts Barkley, 88 years old, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice on August 29, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorena Monk, Clayton Roberts and Georgia Roberts; daughter, Donna C. Rumburg Grant; grandson, Joseph Reid; sister, Murl Sisson; and brother, Robert Roberts, Sr. Surviving to cherish her memories are daughters, Cynthia Rumburg, Lisa Rumburg and chosen daughter Brenda Moore; son-in-law, Kenneth Grant; grandchildren, Roxanne Owens (Kyle), Scott Owens (Susan), Lisa Anne Grant; Lena Carol Grant, Curtis Womack, Clinton Obenchain; great grandchildren, Hannah Tolbert (Micah), Madison Akers, Cameron Akers, Landon Owens, Jaxson Allen, Stella Owens, Evelynn Boone, Olivia Boone; Lincoln Owens, another Angel arriving in October; great-grandchildren, Jaelynn Squires, Vanessa, her dog who she shared a unique special bond; brothers, Bennie Roberts (Mona), Jay Roberts (Audrey); and numerous nieces and nephews. Anne not only had beauty and intelligence, she was strong and persevered through many trials and tribulations, always smiling and keeping her head up. She passed all these traits to her three daughters in hopes for their own happy independent life, trust in God, never ask Him why and that He will never put too much on you that you can’t handle for he will carry you through and to take pride in sewing, canning, cooking, loving your children as the foundation she laid will forever keep growing in our lives. She was the best Mom, Mother and Mommy. We were Blessed to have the best friend, teacher, mentor. We know you are no longer in pain. Our hearts are happy for that, but broken you have left us. You are in God’s arms now and with the rest of your loved ones. Conner Was granted a land grant of 12 1/2 arces on the head of Master Branch of the waters of Little River on July 31, 1843. He died on September 1, 1867 at Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 55; Reportedly found dead sitting on a tree stump while out cutting wood.^4,7

Donna Carol Rumburg and David Lee Reid were divorced on September 11, 1986 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁴ As of April 18, 1997,her married name was Grant.⁷ Donna Carol Rumburg married Kenneth Scot Grant on April 18, 1997 at Roanoke, Virginia.^7,3 Donna Carol Rumburg died on June 26, 2018 at Virginia at age 57.³ She Donna Carol (Rumburg) Grant, 57, of Shawsville, Va., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Elkton, Md., a daughter of the late Donald C. Rumburg and Ann Roberts Barkley, who survives. She was a Shawsville area resident for most of her life. Donna was employed for many years as a waitress at Dixie's American Grill, where she loved to interact with her customers, with whom she developed personal and caring relationships with over the years. She enjoyed sewing and quilt making. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Reid. Along with her mother, she is survived by her husband of over 34 years, Kenny S. Grant; two daughters, Lisa Grant and Lena Grant and her husband, Jacob Boone; a granddaughter, Evelynn Boone; sisters, Lisa Rumburg and Cynthia Rumburg; uncles, Bob Roberts of Salem, Va., Bennie Roberts and Jay Roberts of Shawsville, Va; many nieces and nephews and friends. on June 30, 2018.³
