Cooper of Greensboro, N.C., and Artis Thompson, with the Merchant Marines; a sister, Mrs. Virgie Waddell of Christiansburg, Va., and a brother, Roy Poff, of Alexandria, Va. The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the George W. Seaver Chapel with Rev. Willard Jenkins in charge. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today. on November 7, 1966.5

Ms. Warner was born in Princeton on February 20, 1929, and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Princeton. At the age of 18, Ms. Warner moved to Chicago where she married and raised six children, two boys and four girls, including twins. Ms. Warner was independent, self sufficient, a supporter of human rights, a beloved mother, a wonderful friend, a published poet, and had earned academic honors, written insightful poetry, and was a published poet. She also had a strong interest in medical research, which was the inspiration for her daughter, Meryl's, successful anti-viral formula that has helped millions of people. A retiree of Northwest Airlines, she had worked for the airline for 26 years. After retiring, Ms. Warner moved to Florida where she lived for many years. With her license in Real Estate, she bought and sold properties in Illinois and Florida. She loved West Virginia, horses and was a collector of beautiful glassware. She was the beloved mother of Michael Warner, Meryl Squires-Cannon, Cheryl Riley, David Warner, and Debra Freeling; beloved grandmother of Michael Warner Jr., Tracey Warner, Becky Hess, Jason Biasotti, Matthew Biasotti, Angela Biasotti, Anthony Biasotti, Dina Baker (nee Squires), Diann Squiers, Dori Squires-Rarrat, Tom Riley, Jennifer Riley, John Doherty, Rikaine Hernandez, and Megan Grossman. Ms. Warner is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; daughter, Kathleen “Kitty” Biasotti; parents, Effie and James Hammond; sisters, Carlene, Mary and Peggy; and brothers, L.J. and Artis. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 19, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, Princeton. The Reverend Dr. David Dockery will preside. Samuel G Spangler, near town, died Thursday night after a weeks illness with Pneumonia and other complications. He was nearly 76 years of age, and a minister of the Brethren Church, and had been for 50 or more years. He was a good substantial and useful citizen, held in the highest esteem. He leaves his wife who was Miss. Agee before marriage and six children - two daughters and four sons - Mrs. W. H Poff, of town, Miss Esther Spangler, of Marion, W L and J S Spangler, of Roanoke, W B Spangler, of Christiansburg, and Charles B Spangler, of this county, besides many grandchildren and great grandchildren. His funeral was preached on Saturday at 11:00 oclock in the home by Eld's Hylton, Vest, and Williams, after which he was taken to the Spangler graveyard and laid to rest. A more extended account of life and death will be given later. on March 14, 1929.6

Mrs. Courtney was born in Floyd County, Va., and studied nursing at Roanoke Hospital in Roanoke, Va. She did private duty nursing in Newport News during World War II. For many years she and her husband, Joseph Finley Courtney, worked together in the poultry business. She then worked at Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth as head nurse on PMR. Jackie impressed her friends as being a person who knew what she believed and stood up for it. She loved people and made friends quickly wherever she went. An avid bridge player, she belonged to many clubs. She was a member of the Junto Women's Club. She was deeply loved by family and friends and will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosetta Elisa Poff and William Hamilton Poff. She had three sisters and one brother. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Frances Maclasse of Silver Spring, Md., and Barbara Lou Courtney of Carrollton; and numerous surviving nieces and nephews. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Christ Episcopal Church, Smithfield. Burial will be in St. Lukes Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Christ Episcopal Church building fund, 111 S. Church St., Smithfield, VA 23430. on November 30, 2000.1

He was predeceased by his parents, Ira L. Martin Sr. and Annie Parker Martin Rice; sister, Myrtha Burris Carr; his wife's parents, Kermit Sr. and Lillian Poff; brother-in-law, Gary Foster; and sisters-in-law, Marcella Jones and Patricia Poff. Coles of Bedford; grandchildren, Bethany Ayers, Timmy Martin, Matthew Martin, Cody Ayers, Joey and Sarah Coles, of Virginia Beach, Natalie and Joey Brinkley, of Blacksburg, and Scott Coles, of Bedford. Also surviving is a special cousin, who is considered as a brother, Edward Witt and wife, Lorraine, of Bent Mountain; his sisters and their husbands, Perrie and Bruce Powers, of Salem, and Sandra and Joe Martin, of Roanoke County; sister-in-law, Shelby Moran and husband, Ralph, of Roanoke; brothersin-law, Richard Poff and wife, Sandra, of Roanoke County, Clinton Jones, of Roanoke County, and Kermit Poff Jr., of Thaxton; several nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family; and also, his loving poodle, Nikki. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, with Mr. Willie Green officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will be receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount, Va. on March 5, 2008.4
