Light and Sons from March 1, 1960, which he owned and operated with his sons until his death. He is survived by his wife, Verna A. Light of Narrows; two sons, Leon Light and wife Cindy of Narrows, and Richard Light of Narrows; a sister, Eva French of Narrows; two stepdaughters, Flois B. Evans and husband Jim of Pearisburg, and Melva B. Wendehack and husband Fred of Locust Grove, Virginia; two grandchildren, Susan Light and fiancee' Ronnie Bland of Blacksburg, and Jonathan Light of Narrows; five step-grandchildren, Dr. Jim Evans and wife Kathryn of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Vera Epling and husband Tim of Pearisburg, Robyn Soldz and husband Stanley of Fredricksburg, Carol Mahoney and husband Kevin of Crofton, Maryland, and Lynn Kuzminsky and husband Jerry of Littleton, Colorado; 8 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Layne Board and Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. He was born in Smyth County on April 25, 1925, to the late Gilbert and Nannie DeBord Hopkins. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Chavis and Pauline Richardson; and a brother, Harry Hopkins. He retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant after 33 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Dove-Hopkins, of Christiansburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Gaye Taylor, which was known by bring his "house full;" special son-in-law, Robert Taylor; one granddaughter, Drema Cornelison; three greatgrandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, and Tucker, which gave him a special name from day one "Great Day;" special stepdaughter, Tootie Dove; three stepsons, Robert Dove, William (Karen) Dove, Darrell (Debbie) Dove; seven step grandchildren; six stepgreatgrandchildren, all of Christiansburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Dorothy Hopkins, of Chilhowie, Va; and one brother-in-law, Raymond Chavis, of Fayetteville, N.C. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery. on December 19, 2009.2
