He was born November 10, 1915, in Roanoke, the son of Chester S. and Minnie Poage. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Pauline P. Lawrence and brother, Byron C. Poage. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Alma Geraldine T. Poage; daughter and son-in-law, Martha P. and Ronald Conner; son and daughter-in-law, Dickie and Patty Poage; grandchildren; Angela Dillard, Fred Conner, Steve Conner, Katie Alls; six great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Clarence and Geraldine owned Poage's Grocery, Clarence drove Roanoke County school buses, worked for N&W Railroad and retired from Roanoke County Schools Maintance Department. He loved gardening, fishing, camping in his motor home, and visiting with his family and friends. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and Oddfellas, Salem Lodge 100 for over 60 years. Thanks to Medi-Home Health and Hospice Staff for their special care and kindness for Clarence and family during his recent illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Everett Kier officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Lotz Funeral Home Salem. on June 19, 2013.3
