Nadine also is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she adored and loved spending many happy times with. The family would like to thank the Salem Terrace Dogwood Memory Care nurses and staff as well as Good Samaritan Hospice for all the loving care they provided our Mom. Interment will follow at Rest Vale Cemetery in Copperhill, Va. on January 9, 2018.2

     Renice Leonard Reed Renice Leonard Reed, 97 from Middletown returned peacefully to his heavenly Father on May 2, 2020. He was the loving husband of the late Margaret Ahalt Reed for 70 years. Their loving relationship was a role model for those around them. Born October 10, 1922 in Roanoke VA, he was the son of the late Aube and Clara Reed. He was predeceased by his brother Cletus A. Reed and sister Ernestine Holmes. Renice was the father of four children: Ray Reed, Max Reed, Jan Reed Lushbaugh and Kae Reed Wiles. He has 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Renice was an active member of Evangelical Lutheran Church Zion since the age of 9. He served on the church council multiple times, was involved in the men’s Sunday School as well as taught Sunday School classes. His community services include: Boy Scout master for pact 446, Charter member of the Middletown Amvets Post #9, Middletown Lions Club where he served as President for local charter as well as cabinet secretary/treasurer for the region. Renice joined the Navy in 1943 and served on the US Navy USS LCI 627. He was a 1st class signalman and received honors for battle. He physically witnessed the flag raising at Iwo Jima! Upon returning from WWII he joined his father in managing Reeds Garage and eventually became owner and established Reed Motor Company until his retirement.2 He was buried at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middleton, Frederick Co., Maryland.6 He was born on October 10, 1922 at Roanoke, Virginia.1,2,6 He married Margaret Ahalt on January 27, 1946 at Burkittsville, Frederick Co., Maryland.7,2,8 Renice Leonard Reed died on May 2, 2020 at Maryland at age 97.2,6

Evelyn Ernestine Reed died on October 24, 2015 at Maryland at age 90.2 She Evelyn Ernestine (Tina) Reed Holmes, 90, from Middletown, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on October 24, 2015, following a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was the wife of John S. Holmes for 71 years. Their loving relationship was an inspiration to those around them. Born November 11, 1924, in Roanoke, she was the daughter of Aube Reed and Clara Reed. She married John and together they raised three children. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She especially enjoyed babies. She helped her husband in their business, Ye Old Spirit Shop. She was a member of Eastern Star, Zion Lutheran Church, and loved to travel with her husband. After they retired, they moved to the Eastern Shore where they enjoyed friends and the beautiful sunsets. As her disease progressed, they moved to Country Meadows and then in with family. She had many caregivers and each were special. A special thanks to Pam Cooper for her amazing care. Hospice of Washington County provided care and were a wonderful support. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Sherrie Holmes Rudy and husband Bob of New Hampshire, John Holmes and wife Evelyn of Keedysville, and Lynn Holmes Smith and husband Keith of Berlin, MD. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her two older brothers, Renice Reed and wife Margaret, and Cletus Reed and wife Evelyn. on October 28, 2015.2

She was a den mother for pack 446 and a Lioness in Middletown Lions club. She assisted with meals on wheels. Margaret was a business partner with her husband at Reed Motor Co. for 26 years. A memorial service will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church Zion followed by gravesite interment. on January 16, 2016.2

Born Feb. 5, 1924, in York Pennsylvania, he graduated from high school in 1943, was married to Evelyn Ernestine (Tina) Reed (1944) for 71 years. She preceded him in death along with his brother, Robert; sister, Alice; and grandson, Eric Rudy. He is survived by daughters, Sherrie (and Robert) Rudy, Lynn (and Keith) Smith; and son, John (and Evelyn); nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. After serving in the Army three years during World War II, he moved to Middletown with Tina and joined the Reed family business, delivering gas throughout Middletown Valley and selling/maintaining cars. He also bought a school bus servicing Middletown schools, driving for 40 years. In 1960, he bought his own business, Ye Old Spirits Shop, Frederick, Maryland, retiring in 1986, when he sold the store to his son John and moved to his beach house on the Chesapeake Bay.
