Light died at his home on Ballengee street, Hinton, about 8 o'clock, Friday night, October 16, 1936, aged 58 years. Mr. Light was paralyzed in the early part of 1935 and had been in a feeble condition and unable to work since that time. A few weeks ago he suffered the second stroke of paralysis and until the end his case was regarded as hopeless. Mr. Light was a son of the late James and Olivet Light and was born near Marie. He spent all of his life as a citizen of Summers county. For 12 years previous to his last illness, he had been an efficient and faithful employe of the New River Grocery Co. of this city. Mr. Light was a member of the local Methodist church and the Every Man's Bible class of the church and until his death prevented was loyal in his attendance at the church and Sunday school services. He was a good man, enjoying the cordial respect and friendship of all who knew him. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Miss Willie Light and Mrs. W. P. Scott, one son, James Hedrick Light. The following sisters and brothers survive: Mrs. Arthur Vest, of Mabscott; Mrs. Annie Simmons of Beckley; M. B. Light, of Mabscott; F. F. Light, of Beckley; N. G. Light, of Marie, and two half brothers, W. M. Light, of this city, and D. B. Light, of Marie. Remains were then taken to the Oak Grove cemetery at Ballengee for burial. on October 21, 1936.2

She was a member of the First Church of God. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Kempson of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Frances Wise of Marietta, Ohio, and Mrs. Betty Miller of Parkersburg; one son, Carl Hughes of Parkersburg; one brother, James Light of Glen Jean; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Yon of MacArthur and Mrs. Okey Henderson of Parkersburg; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The body is at the Webb and Neal Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. on August 21, 1958.5

Vest, 38, an electrician for the American Coal company was fatally injured Sunday morning at his home at McComas. Mr. Vest was cutting kindling about 10 o'clock Sunday morning when he tripped and fell backwards over the wall. He died at 4:16 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Mr. Vest landed on the hard surface of the highway in front of his home. Although he arose after the fall and walked to the house, he was forced to lie down on the porch. Mrs. Vest was not at the home at the time of the accident and when she returned he complained that he had fallen and "hurt his back." Mrs. Vest accompanied him upstairs, where he went to bed. Soon afterwards he lapsed into unconsciousness and died a short time later. Examination disclosed that his skull had been fractured. Mr. Vest had been in the employee of the American Coal company for about fifteen years. He was born in Floyd county, Virginia, December 31, 1895, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Vest. He is survived by his widow and one son, Wayne Martin Vest, aged 4 years, and his parents. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3:30 at Thomas Memorial church, McComas, conducted by the Rev. J. R. Belcher, assisted by the Rev. J. M. Wysor, of Berwind, and the Rev. J. E. Davis, of Jenkinjones. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery and will be in charge of Bailey lodge 137 A. F. and A. M. Pallbearers: S. S. Cooper, Nelson Cooper, Abe Lawarence, W. P. Huffman, William Stone, William Cox, Flower bearers: Madames W. D Fitzhugh, S. S. Cooper, Harve Browning, K. N. Marshall, Melvin McClain, Claude Bailey, Harry Fulford, B. F. Pinkard, J. S. Ayers, Abe Lawarence, O. E. Hurst, C. C. Bird, W. I. Gully, J. S. Sanders, Millard King, W. R. Sheets, Leonard Belcher, J. T. Parcel, L. W. Marshall. on October 9, 1934.4
