     Virginia Irene Nichols was buried at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 8838 Floyd Hwy N. US Hwy 221, Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia.⁵ She was born on June 14, 1930 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^2,6 As of August 2, 1947,her married name was DeWeese.² She married Virgil Thurman DeWeese, son of Trigg Preston DeWeese and Laura Ellie Bowles, on August 2, 1947 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,3,2,5 Virginia Irene Nichols died on May 30, 2008 at Virginia at age 77.^5,6 She Virginia Irene DeWeese, 77, of Copper Hill, went to meet her devoted husband of 56 years on May 30, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman and son, Leon. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Helen Turner and Diane and Charlie Hunt; grandchildren, Lisa and Randy Williams, Steven Hunt, and Kimberly Hunt; great-grandchildren, Bobby Hand, III and Travis Williams; special friends and neighbors, Posey and Rita Weddle. Special thanks to Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home for all their care and concern during her time there and Jay Turner for all his visits, kindness, and for bringing her food. Graveside services will be held at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home in Salem. on May 31, 2008.⁵

He was born July 29, 1924 in Floyd County to the late Trigg Preston and Laura Bowles Deweese. He was preceded in death by six brothers. He was retired from the Old Virginia Brickyard. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mavis Collins Deweese; sons Wayne Deweese and wife, Carolyn of Clovis, New Mexico, Roger Deweese, Sr., Thomas Deweese and wife Judy, and Mike Deweese and wife, Karen, all of Elliston; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren ; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Violet Craighead of Salem, Jo Barksdale and husband, Bill of Rocky Mount and Lois Rock and husband, Lewis of Salem; a brother, Hubert Deweese and wife, Ocelia of Floyd; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery. on April 1, 2007.³

She is survived by her sons, Wayne Deweese and wife Carolyn of Clovis, N.M., Roger Deweese, Sr., Thomas Deweese and wife Judy, and Mike Deweese and wife Karen all of Elliston; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Restvale Cementery. on April 15, 2007.²
