Born in Montgomery County on February 21, 1928, he was a son of the late Charles Edward and Lillie May Carter Cromer. He was self-employed in the home construction industry, and could do all phases of the work, operating C & J Construction. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters and numerous other relatives. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Zetta Poff Cromer; his son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Bruce and Marjorie Kaye Cromer, of Christiansburg; his daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Bruce Jarels, of Blacksburg, Jean and Gary Songer, of Blacksburg, Tonya Kay Cromer, of Blacksburg; his eight grandchildren, his 16 great-grandchildren, his six great-great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012, in the Parrott Church of God at Parrott with Pastor Kenneth Alley and Pastor Dewey Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements. on August 23, 2012.2

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Bill will be sorely missed! Born on July 3, 1937, in Covington, Va., he moved to Roanoke at an early age. As a youngster, Bill was a Boy Scout and also delivered newspapers. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School. Shortly after graduation, Bill served as a member of the National Guard for six years and was discharged in 1966. For most of his career he worked in sales, initially in office supplies. Bill then changed to hardware sales, retiring after almost 35 years from Brambleton Hardware, now Ace Hardware. He enjoyed his customers and coworkers, leading him to defer full retirement until age 80 ½! His customers thought just as highly of him as he did of them!!! A family man, Bill always put the needs of his family first and foremost. He loved spending time with everyone at birthday celebrations and holiday occasions and any other opportunities that came about. The little ones were the apple of his eye and they loved their Paw Paw! Crockett Springs Methodist Church in Shawsville welcomed Bill as a member many years ago. He remained active as long as his health permitted. Bill was an avid reader of Civil War and World War II history. He was also a sports enthusiast, including Richard Petty and his #43 car, The Boston Red Sox, and the Washington Redskins. He was also a loyal Virginia Tech Hokie! Surviving Bill is his loving family including his wife, Mary W. Pleasants; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon L. and John E. Michaels; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Crystal L. and Jimmy; great-grandchildren, Aria Z., P. Jayden and E. Lucas Noel; stepdaughters and stepson, Margaret Sisson, Melissa Foster and Tim Foster; sister, Faye Pleasants; and many other relative and friends. Bill was predeceased by his father, John W. Pleasants; mother, Myrle Pleasants Bush; stepfather, Lewis O. Bush; wife, Zona P. Pleasants; son, James W. Pleasants; brothers, Willard E. Shearin and Robert T. Pleasants; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The Funeral Service will be conducted at noon on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. on November 29, 2019.3

Billy Clyde Weeks was buried at Willis Cemetery, atop a hill on south side of Rt. 772, Floyd Co., Virginia.2 He was born on January 29, 1941 at Floyd Co., Virginia.2 He married Annette Lea Poff, daughter of Henry Flemon Poff and Iris Emma Dickerson, on June 20, 1959 at Floyd, Floyd Co., Virginia.1,2,3,4 Billy Clyde Weeks died on April 26, 2006 at Willis, Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 65.2 He Billy Clyde Weeks, 65, of Willis, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at his home. He was born January 29, 1941 in Floyd County, Virginia, son of the late Elbert Julian and Minnie Hylton Weeks. He was also predeceased by his brother, James Elbert Weeks and a young brother, Henry. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Annette Poff Weeks; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Dina Weeks; daughter and son-in-law, June and Danny Sutphin; three grandsons, Dylan, Logan, and Devan Weeks; three sisters and brother-in-law, Alberta Weeks, Pauline Repass, Peggy and Bobby Howell; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Janet Weeks, Johnny and Sue Weeks, and Ruth Weeks. Billy worked for many years at Skyline Ford, and he also enjoyed working with his brothers at Floyd Tire Center. When his illness forced an early retirement, he continued his love of woodcrafting and made several acoustic instruments through which the music of his spirit will linger on. He lived with a quiet strength and unselfishly gave of his time and talents to those he loved. A special thanks to Dr. Marcia Harris who helped Billy to fight his lengthy illness on his own terms. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Phillip Bouknight and Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Burial will follow in Willis Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Maberry Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
