The youth, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Poff, of 122 Rosemont avenue, South Charleston, suffered a heart attack late Friday evening and was taken to a Charleston hospital where he died shortly after 8 p. m. Young Poff was a member of Boy Scout troop No. 32 and the Methodist church. The body was removed to the Snodgrass mortuary in South Charleston. Surviving besides the parents are, two sisters, Betty Jo Poff and Ernestine Poff, and a brother, Howard Lee Poff, all at home. The body will be removed from the mortuary to the home Saturday evening. on October 30, 1937.⁴

Mr. Poff was a tree surgeon and an Army veteran, serving two tours in the Vietnam War. He was wounded in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a companion with whom he lived for 18 years, Diana Workman; one son, Brandon Poff, Timberville; two daughters, Carla Renee Eshbaugh and Amy Lenore Workman, both of Timberville; four brothers, Karl A. Poff, Timberville, Clyde A. Poff Jr. and George B. Poff, both of Frederick, Md., and Michael Poff, Rockville, Md; three sisters, Evelyn Bertinatti, Philadelphia, Pa., Donna Fahey, Rockville, Md., and Anna Halker, Broadway; and four grandchildren. Mr. Poff s body was cremated. on April 9, 1999.¹

Juanita was born on February 8, 1922 in Roanoke, VA to the late Claudine Elizabeth Page and Clyde Arthur Poff, Sr., she was preceded in death by her sister Louise M. Day and her grandson Tracy Benson McGowan. Juanita certainly enjoyed her entire time here, all 90 years, even during her last week she was a "Mover and Shaker" participant at her very recent home at Solomons Nursing Center. She drove daily until a few months ago in June. Juanita was very active with her senior friends and the Golden Girls Club. Mrs. Nicholson was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #274, Lusby, MD, VFW Auxiliary Post #2562, Silver Spring and the Solomons Third Alarm Auxiliary, Solomons, MD. She is survived by her children Joan Zottig of Oakton, VA; Benson McGowan of Rockville, MD; Vic McGowan of Lusby, MD and Juanita Hamilton of Frederick, MD, her brother Clyde Poff, Jr. of Rockville, MD, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
