He was also a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed a long and productive life that included farming, fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson well into his last year of life. He was preceded in death by his brother, Emory Eugene Long; and sister, Lola Mae Anderson. He is survived by a faithful and compassionate wife of 53 years, June Comer Long. He is also survived by his sister, Sadie Garrick Anderson and her husband, Scott Anderson; daughter, Shirley Diane Blevins and her husband, Jonithan Blevins; sons, Stephen Rex Long and his wife, Rebecca, of Sugar Grove, and Allan Long and his wife, Lisa, of Cedar Springs. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Laura Hall, Emily Long, Ellen Long, Hannah Long, Samuel Long and Sarah Long; and one greatgrandson, Christian Hall. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2009, at Bradley Funeral Home in Marion, with funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, September, 22, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Slemp Cemetery in Sugar Grove. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 600 West Ridge Rd., Wytheville, Va. 24382. Rogers, Mountain City, Tenn; four daughters and a son-in-law, Patty and Michael Medley and Donna Kearney, all of Sugar Grove, Helen Rogers of Bluefield, W.Va., and Lisa Davis of Bristol, Tenn; one brother and sister-in-law, Rex and June Long of Sugar Grove; one sister, Sadie Garrick of Sugar Grove; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Interment followed in Slemp Cemetery. on October 26, 2006.3

She was born in Smyth County, Va., to the late Kilby and Hallie Long and was preceded in death by her first husband, William Louis Garrick; two sons, William "Billy" Garrick and Ronald Garrick; a brother, Rex Long; a sister Lola Rogers; and stepdaughter, Donna Anderson. She was retired from the Brunswick Corporation having worked in Sugar Grove and Marion for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of the Summit Baptist Church and enjoyed working outdoors with her flowers and garden. Survivors include, her husband, Scott Anderson; two sons, John Garrick and Byron Garrick and wife, Julie; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; stepchild, Lisa Self; seven step grandchildren; special friend, Hope Blevins. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2020, at Slemp Cemetery. on September 19, 2020.7
