He was born in San Jose, Calif., on July 14, 1943, to Katherine Lois Davis of San Jose and George Ernest Johnson. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Keith Johnson; and a brother, Ronald Johnson. He was a truck driver for Celadon Trucking for more than 20 years and had worked for several years in maintenance for the city of Martinsville. He was a member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Frances Harris Johnson of the home; and one sister, Ernestine J. Lombardi of San Jose.      Sandra Lou Cassell Sandra Lou Simmons, Apr 11, 1939 - Aug 6, 2021. Sandra Lou Simmons, 82 departed this world on August 6, 2021. She was born in Roanoke, the daughter of the late Wythe LaHugh (Hugh) Cassell and Lucy (Frances) Cassell. Sandra was a beautiful lady with an indomitable spirit. She loved rock and roll music, N.Y. City, Las Vegas, travel in general, great food, and parties. A staunch democrat she supported equal rights for people of all races, genders, and sexual orientations. She supported many charities, particularly St. Jude’s, the National Organization of Women, and the Veterans Hospital. She began her career in beauty school and worked her way up to be a regional manager of Glenby International. She later started her own salon, "HairTrends Inc," with some of her family and friends. She was a mentor and an inspiration to many in the hair business. She had a generous and loving spirit and loved having her family and friends over for wonderful dinners. She was a great cook, photographer, and nature lover. She loved her home on Bent Mt. and her friends and neighbors there. She had a great sense of humor and was a creative thinker. Her philosophy of life is reflected in the lyrics of the song, "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Simmons, brother-in-law Larry Bryant, and ex-husband Jasper Jones. Left to cherish her memory are her Brother Jimmy Cassell, (Debbie), sister Bonnie Nunley ( Pete), special brother-in-law Dewy Bryant (Janie), and sister-in-law Pat Simmons. Her children, Joy Jones (Charlie), Dawn Campbell (Mark), Yvette Jones (Allen), Jesse Simmons (Lori); her grandchildren Tony Campbell, Erica Blankenship (Darren), Amy Campbell, Brandon Jones, Emma Jones, Alex Curtis, Aria, and Caleb Simmons; some special nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren and many dear friends including her partner in crime, Mary Ann Maslich.      Dawn Renee Jones was born on September 6, 1960 at Roanoke, Virginia.^4,3 She married Mark Jeffrey Campbell, son of William Earl Campbell Jr. and Jean Annette Ballantine, on May 19, 1989 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,2,4,5 As of May 19, 1989,her married name was Campbell.² Dawn Renee Jones died on January 3, 2025 at Virginia at age 64.⁴ She Dawn Renee Campbell, Sep 6, 1960 - Jan 3, 2025. Dawn had a big heart and was a loving, caring friend to many. She graduated with a degree from National Business College and worked in various jobs including managing her own day-care, Mac's a restaurant owned by her father, Abbotts restaurant, and AMVETs where she served as President of the Women's AMVETS along with her husband who serves as president of the local chapter. She loved children and helped raise her grandchildren. She loved "Peanut's" cartoon. She is preceded in death by her father Jasper Jones, mother, Sandra Simmons, stepfather Jack Simmons, and adopted sister, Dreama Shell. She is survived by her husband Mark Campbell, children Mark, (Tony) Campbell, Erica Blankenship, Amelia Campbell, grandchildren Jasper and Camile, Kingston, Naomi, Ava, sisters, Joy, and Yvette Jones, best friend Faye Fortune, Stepbrother Jesse Simmons, niece Emma Jones, nephew Brandon Jones, an aunt, Uncles, many dear cousins, and friends. on January 12, 2025.⁴

Jones, age 79, of 1015 Highland Ave. SE died Thursday in a Roanoke hospital. He was a member of Belmont Christian Church and retired from the Clover Creamery Co.      Juanita Delphia Jones was buried at Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Swenfield Road, Franklin Co., Virginia.^7,4 She was born on December 24, 1918 at Callaway, Franklin Co., Virginia.^11,7,4,12 As of March 1, 1944,her married name was Howell.⁶ She married Winifred Roy Howell on March 1, 1944 at Danville, Virginia.^6,7,4 Juanita Delphia Jones died on July 30, 2012 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 93.^7,3,12,4 She Juanita Jones Howell, 93 of Roanoke, died Monday, July 30, 2012. She was born December 24, 1918 in Callaway, the daughter of the late Aldine and Pearl Jones. She lived in Danville, Greensboro, N.C., and Richmond before moving to Roanoke. She retired from Thalhimers Department Store in Greensboro, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winifred Howell; daughter, Margie H. Daniel; brothers, Stafford Jones, Ishmael Jones and Rudolph Jones; sisters, Ina J. Messenger and Christine M. Jones. Mrs. Howell was a member of Southall Baptist Church in Danville. She is survived by her granddaughter, Kimberly Daniel, of Fla; son-in-law, Grady Daniel, of Richmond; sisters, Estelle Jones, Geraldine Smith and husband, William, all of Roanoke; many wonderful nieces and nephews that visited her in the nursing home. Interment will follow in the Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. on August 1, 2012.⁷

     Estelle Elma Jones was buried at Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Swenfield Road, Franklin Co., Virginia.^9,4 She Estelle Jones, age 95, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017. She was born January 11, 1922, a daughter of the late Aldine and Pearl Jones. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Ishmael, Rudolph and Stafford Jones, sisters, Ina Messsenger, Juanita Howell, and Christine Jones. Surviving are one sister, Geraldine Smith of Roanoke and one sister- in-law, Patricia Jones of Henry. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends. Estelle attended St. Peters Mission School in Callaway and was a l940 graduate of Callaway High School. She retired from Eli Lilly Company in the 1980s and was a trained beautician and kept her license current until she entered Fork Mountain Rest Home. The family expresses their appreciation to the members and friends for the care and concern shown to Estelle. Also to Sarah Campbell and the staff of Fork Mountain Rest Home. Estelle will be remembered as always helping people and there when they needed her. She had a servants heart and always put others first.      Ishmael Aldine Jones was buried at Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Swenfield Road, Franklin Co., Virginia.^13,3 His Social Security Number was 231-32-7443.¹⁴ He was born on December 3, 1923 at Callaway, Franklin Co., Virginia.^{2,13,4,14,6,7,15} He married Virginia Lee Eanes on January 25, 1948 at Callaway, Franklin Co., Virginia.^2,5,16 Ishmael Aldine Jones married Thelma Crowder on July 23, 1977 at Goochland, Goochland Co., Virginia.² Ishmael Aldine Jones died on October 27, 2008 at Colonial Heights, Virginia, at age 84.^13,3,5,14,15 He Ishmael A. Jones, 84, of Callaway, Va., died on Monday, October 27, 2008. Mr. Jones was born on December 23, 1923, (should be Dec 3, 1923) a son of the late Aldine and Pearl Jones. He was a World War II veteran and a retired millwright from Allied Chemical. He also loved golf, music, was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, organized the annual St. Peter's Episcopal School reunions and served as a board member of Phoebe Needles Center in Callaway, Va. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia E. Jones; and brother, Stafford O. Jones. He is survived by his wife, Thelma C. Jones, of Chester, Va; children, Barry L. She was born on July 13, 1927, a daughter of the late Aldine and Pearl Jones. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Stafford Jones, Rudolph Jones, and Ishmael Jones; and sister, Ina J. Messenger. Miss Jones retired from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. She gave annually to several charities including St. Jude Children's Hospital. Surviving are her sisters, Juanita J. Howell, Estelle Jones, and Geraldine J. Smith and husband, William; also her special great-niece, Kimberly Daniel; several other nieces and nephews; and best friend, Bob DeLuca.
