West, Salem; also several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral will be Thursday 2:00 p.m. at the Floyd United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leonard Arnold and the Rev. Gene Sowder officiating. Interment in the West Family Cemetery at Westwood, Route 4, Floyd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Floyd United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home. on April 2, 1992.7

Funeral services 2 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Ingram and Elder W. T. Conner officiating. Interment in the Vest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home, Floyd. on September 24, 1994.1

     Frank Lee Ferris was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.2,6 He Raised by Erie Poff and Mary Simpson as a foster child.1 He Frank was a foster son of James Preston and Flora Holt Conner.7 He was born on November 2, 1930 at Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.2 He married Clara Marie Bower on June 29, 1954 at Floyd Co., Virginia.1,8,3 Frank Lee Ferris died on December 9, 2015 at Virginia at age 85.2 He Frank Lee Ferris, 85, of Salem, Va., passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. He was born in Check, Va., on November 2, 1930, son of the late Jesse and Myrtle Ferris. His brothers and his foster mother, Mary Poff, also preceded him in death. Mr. Ferris graduated from Check School in 1948. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from August of 1950 until June of 1954. He worked in the hardware department at Graves-Humphreys, then Nelson Roanoke, retiring after 40 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 and1/2 years, Marie; children, Frank Jr., Mary Ellen, Robert, Joseph, and Dawn (a loving grandchild they raised). Also surviving are five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice and the staff of Woodhaven Nursing Home for all they did for Frank. on December 13, 2015.2

Marie graduated from Floyd County High School and spent most of her career working in the school systems where she retired from Roanoke City Schools in 1994. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lee Ferris; and daughter, Mary Ellen Calkins. She is survived by her children, Frank Ferris, Jr., Robert Ferris, Joseph Ferris and wife Melanie, Dawn O’Connor and husband Andrew. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Woodhaven Nursing Home for their continuous care for Marie over the past several years.
