Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Roop of Harper; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Mary Virginia) Presnell and Mrs. Roy (Idleane) Mitchem, both of Takoma Park, Md; two sons, Philip of Christiansburg, Va., and George of Baltimore, Md; a stepson, George Manolis of Reseda, Calif; three half-brothers, Logan, Tom and Dave Roop, all of Radford; 14 grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. Pallbearers will be Nelson, Robert, Archie and Randoph Mitchem, Kelly Godbey and Edward Sweeney. on August 1, 1963.3

Richard Thomas and Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery with Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and American Legion Post # 127. She was born January 7, 1922 at Roanoke, VA, the daughter of John and Mary (Bales) Gearheart. She married Herbert Lyon in 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1948. She then married Carl Wyse on August 14, 1954 and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1997. She was a homemaker and worked in sales, and enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren. She attended the Pettisville Missionary Church. She is survived by seven children, Rita (Alex) Johnson of Wauseon, Ralph Lyon of Florida, Richard Wyse of Wauseon, Delores (Dennis) Lorentz of Bryan, Charles Wyse, and Bonnie (Craig) Grisier both of Wauseon, and David (Linda) Wyse of Wausau, WI; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Jr. and Gene Gearheart; two sisters, Betty Jo Shockley and Helen Guthrie. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two sons, Albert and infant son, Joseph; grandson, Michael Lyon; four brothers, Bill, Jack, Bob, and Jimmy Gearheart; and one sister, Teenie Cuff. Services will be held on Friday at 11 AM at Short Funeral Home in Archbold with Pastor Daniel Douglass officiating. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery. Gearheart and granddaughter, Torea Gearheart, of Nokomis, Fla; stepchildren, Katherine Sue Lavoie, of Ocoee, Fla., Belinda Hinkle Crabtree, of Winter Garden, Fla., and John Richard Hinkle, of Ocoee; brother, Vernon Eugene Gearheart, of Ashford, Conn; sisters, Margaret Wyse, of Archbold, Ohio, Helen Guthrie and Betty Jo Shockley, both of Salem, Va; brother, John C. Gearheart Jr., of Floyd, Va; five stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Powers Drive Baptist Church.
