He is also survived by his nephew, David Hines of Roanoke, Va. and nieces, Betty Ferguson of Roanoke, Va. and Pam Morse of Houston, Texas. He was a proud U.S. Marine that served in the Korean war. He was an entrepureur of many successful businesses and retired after 20 years with General Motors. Charles thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with his family. His interests included working in the yard and watching movies. He was a sport fanatic and lifelong NFL fan, specifically rooting for the Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons. Lastly, he enjoyed the speed of NASCAR. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A small graveside service will be held at Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke, Va. on July 7, 2021.3

She was born December 10, 1910, in Budapest, Hungary, to William and Elizabeth (Nagy) Kapsandi. Helen resided in Buffalo, NY, where she graduated from high school in 1931 and attended States Teachers College. Helen taught violin in Buffalo before coming to Battle Creek. She was employed in the personnel office at Kraft/General Foods/Post Division for 25 years prior to her retirement. Helen married Hugh J. Poff in Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh in 1975, and also by a sister, Irene and a brother, Peter. Surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Peg Cokonougher of Battle Creek, a half-sister, Erma Farkas of Bellevue, a nephew, Carmen (Nancy) Battaglia, two nieces, Frances (Anthony) Costa and Nancee (Dominick) Veiga and their families. Helen was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, The Post 25 Year Club and a former member of the Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of America, Mercy Pavilion Auxiliary and the Morning Musical Club. She studied violin in Budapest, Hungary, for two years, was an accomplished violinist and formerly played with the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra. Helen enjoyed playing Bridge, traveling and knitting. At the request of the family, friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the family will receive friends 4:00-7:00 p.m. Fr. Charles H. Fischer will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, at St. Philip Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Burns-Wornal Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory with Rev. Roby Belcher in charge. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Princeton. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. George Pauley and Rev. Walter Seachrist at the Old Kanawha Baptist church at Pratt at 3 p.m. Sunday. the body will lie in state one hour before the service. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Pratt.
