Sylvia Matusevich1,2,3

F, b. May 18, 1930, d. March 29, 2020
Sylvia Matusevich Sylvia Garvie, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020, from cancer at Grand Lake, Oklahoma, surrounded by her children. She was born in McComas, West Virginia, on May, 18, 1930, to Stanley and Mary Matusevich. She grew up and attended schools in McComas and worked in an Accountant Firm in Bluefield, W.Va. Sylvia was married to Herb Garvie in 1960, had two children from a previous marriage (Cork and Jim of Grove, Ok) and three more in the 60's (Herb, jr. of Austin, Tx, Rebecca Schemenaur of Denton, Tx. and Lisa Snyder of Grove, Ok). She is survived by all five children, six grandchildren (Matt Snyder; David, Rachel, Daniel and Joey Schemenaur; and Haley Garvie), Sister Katherine Perkins of Princeton, W.Va. and many nephews and neices in West Virginia. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings: Stanley and Johnny Matusevich of W.Va, husbands Howard Conner and Herb Garvie as well as grandson Derek Garvie of Grove, Oklahoma.
Sylvia was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and guided her family in that direction no matter how old they became. She was loving to her doggies and all family and friends, enjoyed painting a plethera of pictures for her kids which they all cherish more each day. She used to drive fast, once even having a roadblock put up for her on the west Virginia Turnpike! When they finally stopped her she asked why didn't they turn on their sirens... the troopers replied they could not get close enough to her. She also imitated actresses, especially Katherine Hepburn from 'On Golden Pond' perfectly. Sylvia was a character. Her most important Love, though... was Jesus. She will be missed greatly... there are no words for how much.3 She was born on May 18, 1930 at McComas, Mercer Co., West Virginia.3 She married Dennis Howard Conner, son of Dennis Haden Conner and Addie Anna "Annie" Kingrea, on July 11, 1947 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.4,1 As of July 11, 1947,her married name was Conner.1 Sylvia Matusevich and Dennis Howard Conner were divorced on April 21, 1953 at Raleigh Co., West Virginia.2 Sylvia Matusevich died on March 29, 2020 at Grand Lake, Oklahoma, at age 89.3
