He was born April 14th, 1908 at McComas, a son of the late Charles C. Thompson and Dicie Harman Thompson. He was a retired coal miner in Barber and the owner and operator of Edd's Barber Shop in Bluefield, Va. He was also a member of the UMWA and a member of the Ceres Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jimmy W. Thompson, Jr. He had been a resident of Maple Acres for 41 years. He is survived by his wife, Goldie Conner Thompson, Maple Acres; one son, Jimmy Wayne Thompson, Sr., Rt. 6, Princeton, W.Va; one daughter, Mrs. James (Meryleen) Lambert, 3094 Woodway Rd., S.E., Roanoke; three grandchildren and one greatgrandchildren. He was a Finance Manager at Haley Toyota and was preceded in death by his father, L.E. Sweeney Jr; his grandmother, Ruby Waggoner; and friend, Patrick Dusenberry. Les is survived by partner, Tammy Peters and her son, Kyle Peters; his son, Matthew Sweeney and wife, Madeline; daughter, Meredith Sweeney; his mother, Sandra Sweeney; one granddaughter, Ruby Sweeney; three brothers, Jeffrey Sweeney, Douglas Sweeney and wife, Angela, and Mark Sweeney; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. on February 13, 2000.⁵ He and Andrea Jean Stetson were divorced on December 20, 2007 at Botetourt Co., Virginia.⁶ Lesley Hamilton Sweeney died on February 10, 2020 at Virginia at age 56.⁵

     Jimmy Wayne Thompson Sr. Jimmy Wayne Thompson, Sr., 81, of Jimmies Place, Princeton, WV, went home to be with his Savoir Monday November 16, 2015. Born May 09, 1934 in McComas, WV, he was a son of the late Edd and Goldie Conner Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Ceres Baptist Church, was a retired sales representative having worked with Pocahontas Welding for thirty-five years, a former Fireman with the Green Valley Volunteer Fire Department, and had been a resident of Maple Acres for seventy-five years. In addition to his parents Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by a son; Jimmy Wayne Thompson, Jr. Survivors include his wife; Nedra Ann Jarrell Thompson of the home, a son; David Edward Thompson, Sr. and wife Karen of Princeton, a sister; Meryleen Lambert of Princeton, and a grandson; David Edward Thompson, Jr. and wife Jessica. Thursday. Among the survivors wife, Mrs. Hazel Sweeney Spites; a Joseph Howard Spites Jr., Roanoke; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Burleson, Fort Walton Beach. on January 29, 1966.⁶

     Raymond Earl Aliff Jr. was born on September 21, 1957 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁴ He married Nancy Mary Strickler Spites, daughter of Joseph Howard Spites Sr. and Hazel Virginia Sweeney, on March 2, 1995 at Hillsborough Co., Florida.¹ Raymond Earl Aliff Jr. and Nancy Mary Strickler Spites were divorced on June 2, 1999 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^2,3 Raymond Earl Aliff Jr. died on August 21, 2021 at Virginia at age 63.² He Raymond Earl Aliff "Boo", passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, after a long illness. Raymond had a strong faith in God and found his comfort in the church. He had constant support through-out his illness from his ex-wife, Nancy Spites and his childhood friend, Carrie Leaver. Raymond's greatest pleasure was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle through-out Virginia. He was especially proud to be a veteran and found pleasure in riding his motor cycle with other veterans.      Joseph Howard Spites Jr. was buried at Glade Creek Cemetery, Blue Ridge, Botetourt Co., Virginia.^2,3 He was born on December 15, 1940 at West Virginia.^6,1,3 He married Sandra Wimmer on December 7, 1965 at South Carolina.¹ Joseph Howard Spites Jr. and Sandra Wimmer were divorced on March 23, 1979 at Roanoke, Virginia.¹ Joseph Howard Spites Jr. died on December 19, 2011 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 71.^6,7,3 He Joseph Howard Spites Jr., 71, of Salem, passed away December 19, 2011. Joseph owned and operated Valley Metro Home Improvement for over 20 years. He served honorably in the Unites States Army as a medic. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Joseph H. Spites Sr. and Hazel Sweeney Spites; and a son, Anthony Wayne Spites. Joseph is survived by his daughter, Melissa Spites; granddaughters, Shauni White and Nicole Kendall; sister, Nancy Spites; and numerous nieces and nephews.
