Spangler, son of Samuel Spangler and Mary Catherine Hylton/Helton, on July 25, 1844 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^6,5 As of July 25, 1844,her married name was Spangler. Hannah J. Sowers died on November 3, 1910 at Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 82.^1,2,5,4 She Mrs. Hannah Spangler died Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dillard W. Sowers, near Camp Creek. She was about 89 years old and had been an invalid for several years. She was helpless, blind and could not talk as her tongue was paralyzed, and had been for sometime. Her funeral was preached at Pine Creek church on Friday by Elds. Asa Bowman and W.H. Naff, after which she was laid to rest by the side of her husband, who had preceded her some fifty years ago. She leaves two living sons, Eld. S.G. Spangler, and Abraham Spangler, and two daughters, Mrs. Dillard Sowers and Mrs. Wm. Proffit, all of this county. She also leaves a number of grand children and great grand children as well as a host of other relatives to mourn her death. We extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Interment will follow in the Wimmer Family Cemetery, Roanoke County. on July 18, 2000.²

     Lowell Ellsworth "Curley" Shelhart was buried at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles Co., California.⁵ He was born on November 5, 1924 at Lomita, Los Angeles Co., California.^1,2,3,6,4 He married Jacqueline Brown "Jackie" Keaton, daughter of Morgan M. Keaton and Jessie Helen Brown, on December 10, 1948 at Lomita, Los Angeles Co., California.^1,2,4 Lowell Ellsworth "Curley" Shelhart died on April 10, 2011 at Los Angeles Co., California, at age 86.^6,4 He Lowell Ellsworth Shelhart "Curley" went to be with the lord on April 10, 2011 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Lomita, California in a house on Moon Avenue on November 5, 1924. His parents were Orlie Arthur Shelhart and Marvel Inez Phillips Shelhart. Lowell's mother died when he was 2 1/2 and he went to live with his maternal grandparents, Muret and Winnie Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; sons, Michael Lowell (Michelle) and Morgan Leslie (partner Frank Fox); three grandsons, Dustin Michael (Kathy), Chad Lowell and Matthew Ryan and his precious great-grandson, Seth Lowell. Lowell and Jackie were married at the Lomita Community Church on December 10, 1948, 62 years ago. Lowell was very proud of his family and was a gentle, caring family man who loved them deeply. He was especially proud of the fact that there were four Lowell's in the family. He graduated from the "old" Narbonne High School in 1943. Immediatly after graduation he was drafted into the Army Air Force. After discharge he attended Curtiss Wright Technical Institute and became a master aviation mechanic. His first boss found it hard to remember the name Lowell and called him "Curley". The name stuck throughout all of his years in that industry. After several years as a mechanic, service manager and parts manager, he went to work for Van Dusen Aircraft as a salesman. It was a career he dearly loved and won many awards as the best salesman in the U.S. Lowell was the founder of the Southern California Blades Knife Collectors Club and at the time of his death was director emeritus. He also owned a business of selling collectors' knives, S&S and Sons Cutlers. He was a talented woodworker, crafting furniture, toys and various other items. Lowell was a pastor master of Lomita Masonic Lodge, now Angels Gate, a member of South Torrance Lions Club and a very proud, active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Hawthorne where he had served as an elder. A memorial service for Lowell will be held at A.M. Gamby Funeral home on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's disease Foundation., 1359 Broadway, Suite 7509, NY, NY 10018 or Calvary Presbyterian Church, 13560 Hawthorne Blvd., Hawthorne, CA 90250. on April 16, 2011.⁴
