Robb, fourth grade teacher at McGhee Elementary School in Lock Haven, and president last year of the city's elementary teacher organization, died unexpectedly Saturday at 8:10 p.m. in Grace Community Hospital, New Haven, Conn. She had spent some time this summer with a brother, Robert (Ted) Robb in Erie, and left Lock Haven Thursday to drive to New Haven for a visit with another brother, Willard F. Robb, and family in that city. Her collapse came suddenly after her arrival in New Haven, and death resulted from heart failure. Miss Robb was widely known in the city and among educators in this part of Pennsylvania. She had completed requirements in May at the Pennsylvania State University to receive her master's degree, ending an extended period of summer and commuting studies. Two years ago as part of this post-graduate work, she toured Mexico with a PSU study group. On her return she had spoken to a number of local organizations, reporting on her trip and experiences.      David Jefferson Chatham was buried at Highland Cemetery, 6th and N. Fairview Streets, Lock Haven, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania.1,6,5 He was born in December, 1836 at Porter Township, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania.1,7 He married Susan A. Stern circa 1862.8 David Jefferson Chatham died on July 14, 1908 at Lock Haven, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania, at age 71.4,5 He Aged Man Found Dead In Sugar Run Field. David Jefferson Chatham Overcome by Heat Expires On the Way For Water. David Jefferson Chatham, a well-known Lock Haven citizen, who resided for many years at No. 700 Bellefonte avenue, was found dead in a field owned by him along Sugar run about 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon of this week. Mr. Chatham owns a farm in that locality and Tuesday morning left his home in this city, taking with him a lunch, and a sickle with which to cut brush. He had engaged Daniel Yost, a Sugar Run farmer, to sow buckwheat for him and that gentleman worked nearly all day without observing Mr. Chatham, yet he suspected nothing wrong. As far as can be ascertained Mr. Chatham ate a portion of his lunch about 11 o'clock after which he started for a spring, which is located some distance down an incline to get a drink of water. Just before reaching the spring he fell forward, his nose striking a sharp stone and cutting a deep gash on it. It is believed that his death was instantaneous, as his outstretched hand indicated that he attempted to save himself from striking the ground. When the body was found his face was buried in the ground somewhat, and there was every indication that he died without a struggle. In the meantime Mr. Yost was busily engaged in another field, but desiring a drink of water about 5 p.m. started for the spring were he saw the prostrate form lying on the ground. He touched tho body and found it cold in death. Mr. Yost then notified neighbors and later his family. Deputy Sheriff W. H. Klopper and D. Porter, who reside near the Chatham home, went to the scene, as did also Alderman J. C. Smith, who was to act in the capacity of coroner. An examination of the remains was made and it was found that the face was badly discolored, but there were no indication of violence or fowl play. A physician later stated that he died from natural causes, probably from the effect of the extreme heat, as it was learned that he had not recently been in very good health. After viewing the body carefully it was decided thai no inquest was necessary and undertaker E. B. Waters was summoned, who prepared the body for burial. Mr. Chatham was about 71 years of age and a man of powerful physique. For many years he followed the occupation of a carpenter, but recently gave considerable attention to his farm, on which he raised some fine fruit and vegetables. Deceased is survived by four children - Miss Cora and Bruce, at home, Herman, who is located in Virginia, and Mrs. Jennie Marsh, of Philadelphia. Also by two brothers, John Chatham, of Reynoldsville, and Ira Chatham, of Karthaus, aud two sisters, Mrs. S. B. Jobson, of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. R. W. Fredericks, of this city. on July 15, 1908.4
