     Charles Edward Slusser Sr. married Donna Jean Dowdy.¹ Charles Edward Slusser Sr. was born on November 30, 1954.¹ He married Donna Marie Herndon on April 14, 1978. Charles Edward Slusser Sr. died on January 6, 2015 at Virginia at age 60.¹ He Charles Edward Slusser Sr., of Bedford, was born November 30, 1954, and went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Charlie was a beloved husband, Dad, PawPaw, brother, and friend. He had a love and passion for driving his dump trucks. He was predeceased by father, Okie Schoolfield Slusser; mother, Ethel Blanche Crawford Slusser Broughman; stepfather, George Broughman; and sister, Sadie Belle Slusser Gusler. He is survived by his wife, "Donna Jean" Dowdy Slusser; children, Marie Slusser, Charles Edward Slusser Jr. and wife, Jamie, and Jared Lee Slusser and wife, Courtney; grandchildren, Rebecca Marie Hyer, Cody James Hyer, Hannah Christine Slusser, Jacob Charles Slusser, and Aedan Lee Slusser; brothers and sisters, Otho "Bud" Slusser and wife, Betty, Rosie Welch and husband, Bobby, Lilly Fisher and husband, Ray, Earl Slusser, Lomax Slusser, Louise Slusser, Jean Slusser Hartman, and James "Jim" Slusser and wife, Trish; and special friends, "Peaches", Mike Anderson, Charlie Alls, and Charles "Horsey" Hunter. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Trinity Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held noon Saturday with the Rev. Vernon DeLong officiating. Food and fellowship will follow the service. A private burial service will be held at a family cemetery in Fincastle. on January 9, 2015.¹

     Norman Jack Gusler was buried at Haymakertown Cemetery, Botetourt Co., Virginia.^3,1 His Social Security Number was 226-40-1536.⁴ He married Mary Herron.^1,5 Norman Jack Gusler was born on April 17, 1935.⁴ He married Sadie Bell Slusser, daughter of Oakey Schoolfield Slusser and Ethel Blanche Crawford, on June 4, 1955 at Chesterfield, Chesterfield Co., South Carolina.¹ Norman Jack Gusler died on January 12, 1999 at Virginia at age 63.^4,1 He GUSLER, Norman Jack, 63, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, January 12, 1999. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sadie Slusser Gusler and one grandson, Steven Gusler. He is survived by his wife, Mary Herron Gusler; his father and mother, Marvin and Stella Huffman Gusler, all of Roanoke; three sons and five daughters, James N. Gusler, Salem, Debra Herron, Roanoke, Betty Gusler, Roanoke, Brenda Blankenship, Paint Bank, Sherman Rucker, Roanoke, Jody Johnston, Troutville, Terry Rucker, and Lori Dalton, both of Roanoke; one sister, Mae Gusler, Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 1999 at the Rader Daleville Chapel with the Rev. Burrell Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Haymakertown Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. on January 13, 1999.¹

Patra "Tempy" Conner was buried at Woodward Cemetery, Sugar Run Road, Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁵ She was born on February 18, 1877 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^2,1,3 She married James Wesley Letcher Woodward, son of James Henry Woodward and Lydia Amanda Manning, on December 27, 1894 at Floyd Co., Virginia. As of December 27, 1894,her married name was Woodward. Tempa T. Patra "Tempy" Conner died on December 29, 1920 at Cave Spring, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 43.³

     Evelyn Poff was buried at Restvale Cemetery, Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.^8,14 Her Social Security Number was 231-24-9675.¹⁵ She was born on April 3, 1919 at Locust Grove, Floyd Co., Virginia.^16,8,14,10 She married Sheldon Garwood Conner, son of Albert Conner and Ora Adaline "Orrie" Conner, on October 29, 1938 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^4,6,8 As of October 29, 1938,her married name was Conner. Evelyn Poff married Ernest Nathan Conner, son of William Aaron Conner and Cora F. Poff, after 1950.^1,5,7,8 Evelyn Poff died on January 25, 2012 at Virginia at age 92.^8,14,15 She Evelyn Poff Conner, of Roanoke, born on April 3, 1919, was received by our Lord and Savior on January 25, 2012. She was born in Floyd County, the eldest daughter to the late James Lafayette and Ocie Wilson Poff. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her first husband of seven years and the father of her children, Garwood S. Conner; her second husband of 49 years, Ernest N. Conner; son, Clifton W. Conner; brothers, Edmund Poff and wife, Mabel, and Murrie Poff; and brothers-in-law, Namon Vest, Shike King, and Diamond Shortt. She is survived by her son, Charles G. Conner and wife, Wilma, of Troutville; daughter, Margaret C. Jones and husband, Ronald, of Roanoke; grandson, Patrick C. Conner; granddaughters, Rhonda J. Graham and husband, Brad, Janet I. Conner, Tina J. Worley and husband, Patrick, and Teresa Jones; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Blake and Jacob Graham, Megan Worley, and Cathryn Conner. She also has one great-great-grandson, Eric Holden Mabe. Also surviving are her sisters and brothers, Beulah Vest, Colean King, Jaqueline Blackwell and husband, Harvey, Sylvia Shortt, Louise and Dorsey Thompson, Wilson and Audrey Poff, and Shirley and Emma Poff, sisters-in-law, Joyce Poff and Newassa Conner, brother-in-law, E.G. Conner and wife, Shirley, many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Melvin Poff. Interment will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County. She married Namon Reece Vest, son of John Armistead Vest and Eula Mae Akers, on March 8, 1948 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^{5,14,2,12,7,10,15,4} Beulah Mae Poff died on November 21, 2015 at Virginia at age 94.¹⁰ She Beulah Poff Vest, 94, of Copper Hill, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015. Beulah was born on January 27, 1921, in Floyd County, daughter to the late James Lafayette and Ocie Wilson Poff. She attended Crossroads Church for many years.She was preceded in death by her husband, Namon R. Vest; brothers, Edmund Poff and wife, Mabel, and Murrie Poff; sisters, Evelyn Conner and Colean King; and brothers-in-law, Harvey Blackwell, Shike King, and Diamond Shortt.She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte V. Brown and husband, Wayne, of Roanoke; and son, Donnie Jack Vest and wife, Carol, of Copper Hill. Also surviving are her sisters and brothers, Jaqueline Blackwell, Sylvia Shortt, Louise and Dorsey Thompson, Wilson and Audrey Poff, and Shirley and Emma Poff; sister-in-law, Joyce Poff; and many nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County. She was a homemaker and avid quilter, making hundreds of beautiful quilts. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward (Shike) King; her father and mother, J. L. (Fate) and Ocie Poff; sister, Evelyn Conner; and two brothers, Edmund Poff and Murray Poff. She is survived by her son, David King and wife, Kathleen; three daughters, Mary Ellen Hale and husband, Dewey, Judy Ann Horsley and husband, Roger, and Sandra Wilson and husband, Don; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Shirley and Emma Poff, and Wilson and Audrey Poff; her sisters, Beulah Vest, Jacqueline and Harvey Blackwell, Louise and Dorsey Thompson, and Sylvia Shortt; a sister-in-law, Joyce Poff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
