Born in Floyd County, Va., on Oct. 3, 1871, he was a son of the late Charles and Julia Gay (should be Gray) Reed. Reed came to West Virginia at an early age and had resided for 55 years at Madams Creek where he engaged in farming. Survivors include his wife, Sarah; five sons, Howard F. of Hinton, John of Ypsilanti, Mich., Archie of Oak Hill, Ray of Bellepoint and Talmadge of Columbus, Ohio; four daughters, Mary of Ypsilanti, Mich., Mrs. W. L. Kiddy of Beckley, Faye at home, and Mrs. Frank Wygal of Nitro; one brother, W. L. of Hinton; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Williams of Hinton; and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mount Olivet Church by Rev. Dwight Harris Beckley. Burial will be in the Restwood Memorial Estates. The remain at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors and will be taken to the church one hour before services. on July 8, 1957.3

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dodd-Payne Funeral Home in Fayetteville with Rev. Davis Sneed in charge. Burial will be at the Huse Memorial Park at Fayetteville. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today. on March 14, 1973.2

Survivors include a son, Paul B. of Charleston; four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Smith of Oak Hill, Mrs. Sarah Martin of Warner Robbins, Ga., Mrs. Shirley Pigg of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mrs. June Blackwelder of Jacksonville, Fla; four sisters, Mrs. Patty Nugen and Mrs. Clara Broach, both of Fayetteville, Fayetteville and Mrs. Lena Holstein of Pax; 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dodd-Payne Funeral Home in Fayetteville 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. on September 14, 1976.3
