She was the daughter of the late Samuel R. and Ellen Crockett Sayers. Survivors include her husband, Earl V. Slusser of Fincastle; a daughter, Sherry Renae Slusser of Fincastle; a son, Earnest Vincent Slusser of Roanoke; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Judy Sayers of Wytheville, Roger and Sally Sayers of Greenville, S.C; and one grandchild, Sidney Ryan Wilcher. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the , c/o Jean K. Lester, P.O. Box 958, Wytheville, VA 24382. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements. on June 9, 2010.1

     Marlene Louise Lloyd Marlene L. Slusser, 69, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018. She enjoyed a career as a beautician, was an avid darts competitor, a long-time member of the Moose Lodge and loved to cook, often doing so for others in her community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Tilson Tyson and Sybil Pearl Nutter; and brothers, H.T. Loyd, Harry Wayne Loyd, of Roanoke, and Michael Dale Loyd, of Salem. She is survived by her son, William "Scott" Slusser and wife, Patti, of Vinton; brother, Marvin Loyd, and wife, Evelyn, of Salem; Grandchildren, Dillon, Justin, Brandalyn, Amber; Great-grandchildren, Sadie, Lana; and closest to her heart, Vonn Slusser, her “BooBoo.” Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, with visitation at beginning at noon on Wednesday, April 18, 2018; Reverend Marvin Loyd will officiate.2 She was born on April 27, 1948 at Roanoke, Virginia.1 She married William Lomax Slusser, son of Oakey Schoolfield Slusser and Ethel Blanche Crawford, on May 1, 1969 at Eden, Rockingham Co., North Carolina.1 As of May 1, 1969,her married name was Slusser.1 Marlene Louise Lloyd and William Lomax Slusser were divorced on November 21, 1991 at Craig Co., Virginia.1 Marlene Louise Lloyd died on April 14, 2018 at Virginia at age 69.2

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Mae Conner King; son, Mark Wayne King; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Teresa and Randy Simpson; granddaughter, Megan Lynn Simpson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carson Lee King and Sylvia, "Willie" Will Roger King and Nancy; nieces, Stephenie Perdue, Kristie Nary, Samantha Lunnie; nephews, Chad Conner, Todd Conner and special nephew that was like a son, Bradley Ward King. Interment to follow in the Copper Hill Cemetery. on October 18, 2016.4
