Born June 30, 1948 in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Ernest Lorain Reynolds and Lorraine Bell Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds was retired from his asphalt business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served in Vietnam as a Lance Corporal. He was a member of Princeton Moose Lodge No. 2115, the YEW. and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Fay Shrewsbury Reynolds of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Nelson Reynolds of the home and Stanley Brian Reynolds and his wife Duddress “Jill” Genile Reynolds of Alaska; two daughters, Lagena Lynn Setzer and her husband Randall Scott of Vale, N.C. and Lu (Laresa) Lee Reynolds of the home; two sisters, Mary J. Bennett and her husband Lloyd of Lashmeet and Elsie Pack of Beckley; and two brothers, Frank Reynolds and his wife Joy and Richard Bailey and his wife Nora all of Lashmeet; and 11 grandchildren, Reese Evan Reynolds of the home, Katelyn, Kristan and Emily all of Alaska, Grace Reynolds of North Carolina, Kylie and Steven Setzer both of North Carolina, Chasity and Teddy Honaker both of Lashmeet, and Nathan Bennett and Allyson Bennett both of Lashmeet. Interment will take place in the Shutt-Shrewsbury Cemetery at Rock at a later date. Honoring Mr. Reynolds' wishes, the body has been cremated. on October 30, 2005.⁵

     Stanley Brian "Stan" Reynolds was buried at Shutt Cemetery, Rock-Lashmeet Road Sec. Rt. 71/12, Wright Mountain, Mercer Co., West Virginia.¹ He Stanley B. Reynolds tried his hand at a number of jobs - a trucker and a strip miner - but got laid off from both. He then chose the Army. "Here's a guy who was 31 years old, had a wife and two kids already, with another one on the way," his uncle, Richard Bailey said. "When he joined the Army, he joked with me that he was getting a job that he wouldn't get laid off from. But he was really patriotic too. He thought it was the right thing to do." Reynolds, 37, of Rock, W.Va., was killed Aug. 14 when his helicopter crashed in Taqaddum. He was assigned to Fort Wainwright and was on his second tour. 1st Lt. Bryan Pierce, Reynolds' commanding officer, remembered the young soldier as "a hard worker, a loving family man and a friend to all," Pierce wrote. "It did not matter your position or title, he treated everyone the same with utmost respect." In his spare time he enjoyed restoring old Ford trucks. He is survived by his wife, Jill, and three young daughters - Katelyn, 8, Kristan, 7, and Emily, 4. "Ladies, you should be very proud of your daddy," Brigadier General John A. MacDonald told them.² He Staff Sgt. Stanley B. Reynolds of Rock, West Virginia attended Matoaka schools and was a graduate of West Iredell High School in Statesville, North Carolina. Stanley grew up in a loving home environment and liked to hang around with his father and his father's buddies when they worked on farm machinery at the family's home. Stan was a truck driver and worked in the coal mines briefly before enlisting in the military more than five years prior. His late father was a Marine who served in Vietnam. In his leisure he enjoyed restoring old trucks. Stanley was married with three children and left for Iraq in early July for a 15-month deployment. He was of the Baptist faith. His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Ribbon, Non-Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon and the Aviation Crewman Badge. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ernest and Lorraine Bell Reynolds; and his maternal grandparents, Hosea and Grace Hall Shrewsbury. He died in Al Taqqadum, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his helicopter crashed at age 37. Stanley also has a marker in Arlington National Cemetery.¹ He married Duddress "Jill" Genile.³ Stanley Brian "Stan" Reynolds was born on July 18, 1970 at Baltimore, Maryland.¹ He died on August 14, 2007 at Al Taqqadum, Iraq, at age 37.^1,2

     Rachel Ivy Shrewsbury was buried at Shutt Cemetery, Rock-Lashmeet Road Sec. Rt. 71/12, Wright Mountain, Mercer Co., West Virginia.³ She was born on January 24, 1953 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^2,3 As of September 15, 1973,her married name was Coan.² She married John Stephen Coan on September 15, 1973 at Fairfax Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 Rachel Ivy Shrewsbury died on November 9, 2023 at Gainesville, Prince William Co., Virginia, at age 70.³ She Rachel Shrewsbury Coan, 70 of Gainesville, VA died Thursday November 9, 2023 at her home with her family. Born January 24, 1953 at Princeton, WV. She was the daughter to the late Hosea Shrewsbury and Grace Hall Shrewsbury. Rachel graduated from Herndon High School in Herndon, VA. She also attended Lashmeet Elementary and Matoaka High School. Left to cherish her memory of 50 years is her husband John Coan. She is also survived by Daughters Stephanie Coan and Lindy Sisemore of Gainesville, VA. and Grandchildren Samantha and Justin Sisemore also of Gainesville, VA. She is also survived by the following siblings: Manuel and Lorraine Hall of Toledo Ohio, Sandra Reynolds of Rock, WV, Rita Shrewsbury of Narrows, VA and Rhonda Dunford and husband Keith of Rocky Gap, VA. Rachel loved the Lord and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Bealton, VA. Rachels' wishes were to be cremated and at a later date buried at the Shutt/Shrewsbury cemetery at Rock, WV. on November 11, 2023.³
