Formerly a resident of Princeton, W.Va., Barbara was an artist, a singer and beloved mother to her children. Barbara was a determined cancer survivor who graduated from Princeton High School in 1985, attended Concord College and graduated from Bluefield State College. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 1, 2008, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood, Fla., at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an education fund for her daughter. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael L. Conner; mother, Hattie Mae Hall Crotts; father, William Lloyd Crotts, Sr; and three brothers, William Lloyd Crotts, Jr., Harold Crotts and Richard Crotts. Doris was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church for over 60 years. She served in many capacities there including Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher of both children and adults. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by all. Doris is survived by her husband of 70 years, Marlin Edsel Conner; daughter, Sandra Conner; son, Jimmy (Missy) Conner; grandchildren, T.J. Conner, Brad (Patti Ann) Conner, Mindy (Nathan) Facemire; great-grandchildren, Liam Conner and Josie Mae Facemire; sisters, Louise Gilbert, Clara Oliver, and Bonnie (Paul) Hartsel. Special thanks to Hermitage Roanoke, especially the nurses and CNAs of Dogwood Lane, who provided such good, compassionate care for Doris. In lieu of Flowers, donations to North Roanoke Baptist Church Gleaners are also appreciated. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Sandra J. Conner. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on May 30, 2019.5

Born July 21, 1952, in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of M. Edsel and Doris Crotts Conner, of Roanoke, Va. He was the husband of Jane Conner to whom he had been married 26 years. He was a Civil Engineer with the Bechtel Power Corporation. He graduated from Virginia Tech, in 1974, with a Degree in Civil Engineering. He loved watching sports and NASCAR and spending time with his family. Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, is son, Thomas Joseph "TJ" Conner, of Westminster; sister, Sandra J. Conner, of Raleigh, N.C; and brother and sister-in-law, James M. and Melissa D. Conner, of Roanoke, Va; niece and nephew, Mindy and Brad Conner. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. Officiating will be Monsignor Arthur Valenzano of St. John Catholic Church. Interment will be in Leisters Church Cemetery.
