     Victor Franklin Foti Sr. Victor "Vic" Foti, Feb 27, 1936 - Aug 14, 2025. Victor Franklin Foti, age 89, of Roanoke, Virginia went to be with the Lord, family and friends on Thursday, August 14, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Lola Foti, older brother Tom Foti (Lil), older sister Katherine Foti and a daughter Katherine Elaine Foti. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 67 years Roberta Sue Foti and was a loving father and mentor to his children Vickie Sue Guilliams (Robert), Elizabeth Foti Groves (Scott) and Victor Franklin Foti, Jr. (Linda), grandchildren Sarah Guilliams (great grandson Troy), William Guilliams, Madison Foti, and Delaney Evans (Richie). Vic was born in Kimball, WV at home. His father immigrated to America from Italy in the early 1900's and was a coal miner and later owned a general store. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV in 1954. Vic attended Concord College in Athens, WV, was president of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, graduated in 1958 with a degree in accounting, and most importantly, met Roberta Sue Cook, his future wife. After graduation, Vic and Sue moved to Richmond, Va. where he worked for his uncle, Sam English, Inc. who built boilers and refractories. After a year, he moved his family to Roanoke, VA in 1960 accepting a staff accounting position with Andrews, Burkett and Company. In 1963 Vic became a certified public accounting (CPA) and subsequently became a partner in the firm. In 1976, Vic opened RL Persinger in Roanoke with his good friend Bob Flynn, which eventually became Foti, Flynn, Lowen and Company. During Vic's business career, he was voted Outstanding Young American in 1965, owned and operated the Western Sizzlin' / Cheers franchise in Roanoke and Salem, became President of Western Sizzlin' Corporation, and owned and operated a variety of businesses. Vic was President of the Shenandoah Club, instrumental in establishing Hometown Bank, served on the Board of Contractors under Governor Jim Gilmore, and served on numerous boards, charities and civic organizations. He was a faithful member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church for many years where he served on numerous committees, helped establish Good Samaritan Hospice in Roanoke, was an animal lover, devoting many hours to St. Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation, and was instrumental in establishing the Prison Pup Training Program. Vic enjoyed playing golf and socializing with friends. He loved his many Golden Retrievers over the years and was especially close to his current buddies, Luke and Simon. Most of all, Vic liked helping people and being with family. The family would like to thank the doctors, staff and caregivers of Lewis Gale Hospital, Friendship Manor South and Good Samaritan Hospice for all of their love and support during the last few months.³

     Linda Gail Sparks Linda Sparks Hurst, (67), of Route 5 Box 426 (Bluewell), Bluefield, WV, passed into eternal peace on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 with her family by her side. Born August 16, 1943- 5th child of Rufus and Edith Perkins Sparks. She was predeceased by her brother Rufus Blane Sparks, and her sister Dana Wilson. Graduated from Beaver High School in 1961 and married Charles Hurst in August 1962. First child (Sandra) was born October 1963 and son (Charlie) in July 1965. Linda’s greatest passion was her family. She cherished her time with her grandchildren Sarah and Nick. Linda was a kind and loving person who always thought of others first. She will always be remembered for her warm eyes and beautiful smile. She was the owner and manager of Hardware Charlie’s in Bluewell for 26 years and was a member of the Princeton First Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charles Hurst of Bluefield, West Virginia, and two children, Sandra Lynn Hurst of Harker Heights, Texas, and Charlie Hurst, Jr. of Bluefield, West Virginia. Also survived by her grandchildren Nick Hurst of Roanoke, Virginia and Sarah Michelle Vaught of Austin, Texas. Yvonne lived the majority of her life on Lorton Lick Road in Mercer County. She was a dear friend and caregiver to many people during her lifetime. She particularly loved children and freely opened her home to many kids throughout the years. Yvonne will be remembered for her delicious home-cooking and her strong sense of humor. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Chester "C.M." Hurst; her son, Larry Keith Hurst; and her infant grandson, Joshua Keith Hurst. Also preceding her in death were her Sigmon family cousins (Harry Sigmon, Mildred Walker, Virginia Gills, Lucille Mathena, Thelma Sigmon, Julius Sigmon, Woodrow Sigmon, and Ray Sigmon) with whom she grew up alongside of as a sister. Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Lani Karen Hurst Crane and husband, Kevin of Bluewell; four grandchildren, Amanda Maria Hurst, Kellie Yvonne Crane, Maranda LeAnn Crane, and Landon Kevin Crane; as well as her daughter-in-law, Linda K.      Charles Edward Hurst Jr. Charles Edward “Charlie” Hurst, Jr., 54, of Bluewell, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on July 28, 1965 in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Charles Edward Hurst, Sr. and Linda Sparks Hurst. He attended Bluefield High School, Bluefield State College and Concord College. He was an avid sports fanatic, but he loved playing baseball, golf, and going fishing. Many hobbies were lost though as he had continuous dialysis for the past 22 years. He was the owner and operator of Hardware Charlie's for many years in Bluewell. He was a very proud father and recently became a grandfather. He loved his son so much and he was extremely happy to become a “pop pop”. He was loved by so many and everyone always enjoyed talking with him. He was extremely funny and quite the jokester, from pulling pranks to telling stories he could always put a smile on your face. Charlie was an astonishing man and he fought hard for his life until the end. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him or had the chance of meeting him. Survivors include his son, Nick Hurst and Kayla Brown and his granddaughter whom he adored, Cambria Hurst of Charlotte, NC; a sister Sandra Lynn Vaught of Roanoke, VA; niece, Sarah Skeen of Roanoke, VA; and great niece Lillian Skeen of Roanoke, VA.⁴ He was born on July 28, 1965 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.⁴ He died on July 21, 2020 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 54.⁴

"Bull" Lowman and two sisters, Evelyn Smallwood and Margaret Ann Boothe. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born in Virginia, he was a son of Otis Boothe of Dry Fork and the late Tillie Whitt Boothe. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Lowman Boothe of the home; one son, Clyde Edward Boothe, Jr., of Charlotte, N. C; three daughters, Mrs. Audrey Aunspaugh of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Betty White of Charlotte, Mrs. Phyliss Craig of Morgantown; one brother, Ray Boothe of Alabama; eight grandchildren. Burial will follow in the Boothe Cemetery on Dry Fork. on April 22, 1975.⁵

     John W. Smith was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Robinson, Brown Co., Kansas.² He was born on July 16, 1874 at Doniphan Co., Kansas.² He died on February 28, 1894 at Robinson, Brown Co., Kansas, at age 19.²

     His Social Security Number was 233-09-8175.³ Charles Theodore Smith was buried at Evergreen Burial Park, 1307 Summit Ave SW, Roanoke, Virginia.^3,5,7 He was born on July 6, 1878 at Doniphan, Doniphan Co., Kansas.^2,3,4,5,7 He married Ollie Mae Simpkins, daughter of Jessie Wade Simpkins and Cora French Hall, on August 12, 1903 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.^3,7,8 Charles Theodore Smith died on October 1, 1941 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 63.^3,5,7 He C. T. Smith dies at home here. Funeral services will be held at Mercer Funeral home tomorrow. The body will be taken to Roanoke for burial in Evergreen cemetery. Elks will have charge of the service at the grave, and will serve as pallbearers and flowerbearers. C. T. Smith, 83, former assistant postmaster here, died yesterday morning at his home on Mt. View avenue after an illness of about three weeks. Mr. Smith was in an automobile accident last February and had not been in good health since that time. He succumoed to a heart attack. He was born July 6, 1878, in Doniphan, Kanasas, the son of Albert B. Smith. He was first employed at the local postoffice in 1901 as a mall carrier, then be became a clerk and later a superintendent of mails. In 1920 he was appointed assistant postmaster at the local office and served in that capacity until he wae retired seven years ago. Since his retirement from the postal service he has been employed by the Southern Office Supply company. He was working there when he first became ill. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ollie M. Smith, two brothers, H. E. and Byron, both of Denver Colorado, and three sisters, Mrs. Inez Wade, of Denver; Mrs. Guy Edwards of Greeley, Colo., and Mrs. Herman Libel of Leona Kansas. He was a member of the Masons, the Elks and the Eagles on October 2, 1941.⁵
