     Lillian Clair Smith Lillian C. Coleman, 93 years of age of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida. Mrs. Coleman was born on December 20, 1918 in Dothan, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Albert S. Smith and Gretchen Bragg Smith. Lillian was retired from the Electronics Industry. She was the widow of Harvey Traville Coleman of West Virginia and had resided in the North Fort Myers area since 1973 coming from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Lida Mrmosh of North Fort Myers, Florida, Rita (Greg) Twietmeyer of Hampton, Virginia and Melvin (Linda) Coleman of Tavares, Florida; her grandchildren, Barry L. (Tammy) Evans, Cheryl Claypool and family, Michael Coleman, Harvey (Brittany) Coleman and Melvin (Jennifer) Coleman II; her great grandchildren, Barry Evans II, Cameron Hardison, Brittany, Melvin III and Lillian; her sister-in-law, Rosemary Smith and family of Roanoke, Virginia; her nieces, Shelvy Jean Wiley and family of Fayetteville, West Virginia and Gail Knox and family of Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Smith was born in Fayetteville, West Virginia, son of the late Walter Ed Smith and Lizzie Mae Wheeler Smith. He lived in Bushnell, Florida and Colquitt, Georgia before moving to Webb in 2000. Mr. Smith was formerly employed by General Motors in Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dietz Smith. Surviving relatives include his wife, Beulah Waters Smith, three daughters, Deborah Bradley, Colquitt, GA; Donna Shelley (Freddy), Webb; and Carol Myers, DeFuniak Springs, FL; two sons, Lonnie Smith, Colquitt, GA; and Dennis Smith (Sandi), Whitetail, MT; five sisters, Donnie Atha, Zelda Johnson, Clara White, Anna Otto, and Ethelda (Sis) Sink; three brothers, Paul Smith, Wilbur Smith, and Gariel Smith; twenty-nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.4 He married Beulah Ruth Walters.4 Edgar Delano Smith was born on March 3, 1935 at Fayetteville, Fayette Co., West Virginia.3 He died on September 14, 2014 at Webb, Houston Co., Alabama, at age 79.4

     Wilbur Joseph Smith married Dr. Sarah Xie.4 Wilbur Joseph Smith was born on December 11, 1936 at Fayetteville, Fayette Co., West Virginia.3,4 He died on December 22, 2023 at Morgantown, Monongalia Co., West Virginia, at age 87.4 He Wilbur “Wil” J. Smith, a cherished son, husband, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2023, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, at the age of 87. Born on Dec. 11, 1936, in Fayetteville, Wil was the son of Walter and Lizzie M. Smith. Wil lived a life rich in experiences, touching the hearts of those around him. His passing is preceded by his parents; his brothers, Dietz, Edgar, Paul, and Garrel; and his sisters, Ethelda, Zelda, and Anna. Wil is survived by his devoted wife, Dr. Sarah Xie of Morgantown, who stood by his side through the journey of life. He is also survived by his sisters, Donzella (Donnie) Atha of Fayetteville, and Clara White of Millwood, who shared a lifetime of memories and love with him. Wil leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, including Ian Smith of Pittsburgh, and Jacob Smith of Beckley, along with many more whom he held dear. A graduate of Alderson Broaddus and the University of Wisconsin, Wil devoted his career to helping others through education and service. Wil’s formative career started in 1967 when he joined the West Virginia University Office of Research and Development. Wil’s career spanned four decades during which he educated and mentored numerous students as a tenured Associate Professor in the College of Business and Economics, was a prolific grant writer who helped secure significant funding for WVU’s alternative fuels research, and supported working West Virginians through labor education and housing/economic development research as a faculty member in WVU Extension’s Institute for Labor Studies and Research. Wil retired with Emeritus status in 2004 but remained actively connected to his beloved department and program even in retirement. Known for his kindness, warm spirit, and unwavering love for his family, Wil will be remembered as a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration to those who were fortunate to know him. His focus and wisdom left an indelible mark on the lives of all who crossed his path. Wil was endowed with a passion for music and often shared that passion through song while playing the guitar in his spare time. May Wil J. Smith rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and memories he created throughout his remarkable journey on this earth. In death, Wil donated his own body to the WVU Human Gift Registry for scientific research. on December 30, 2023.4

     Paul Anthony Smith Paul A. Smith, 78, of Champion, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020, at Trumbull Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 25, 1941, in Fayetteville, W.Va., a son of the late Walter and Lizzie Wheeler Smith. He married Roberta “Bobbie” Martin on Sept. 1, 1961, and they shared almost 59 years of marriage and many loving memories. He graduated from Fayetteville High School and worked at General Motors for 30 years. Paul was known for his dedication to his work and family. He had a great love of animals. He enjoyed being outdoors. Paul always planted a large garden and had many flowers, which he prided himself in caring for. In his spare time, he enjoyed building birdhouses and bird feeders. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Smith; daughter, Paula Smith; son, Robert Smith and granddaughter, Jenna Smith (who made his favorite Snickerdoodle cookies), all of Champion, Ohio; one brother, Wil Smith; three sisters, Donnie Atha, Zelda Johnson and Clara White, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by three brothers, Dietz, Ed and Garrel Smith; and two sisters, Ethelda Sink and Anna Onto.6 He was born on September 25, 1941 at Garten, Fayette Co., West Virginia.4,7,6 He married Roberta Kay Martin on September 1, 1961 at Tazewell, Tazewell Co., Virginia.3,6 Paul Anthony Smith died on August 25, 2020 at Warren, Trumbull Co., Ohio, at age 78.6

     Garrel Keith Smith Garrel Keith Smith, 72, of Beckley, WV, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at the Harper Mills Nursing Facility in Beckley, WV. Born on August 21, 1947, in Fayetteville, WV, he was the son of the late Walter E. Smith and Lizzie M. Wheeler Smith. He married Deborah Cummings on June 26, 1969, in Fayetteville WV. He graduated from Fayetteville High School on June 2, 1965. He worked as an X-ray Technician for the United States Air Force and served with distinction for twenty years. During this time, Garrel was stationed at several military bases throughout the United States, and Turkey. Upon his retirement from the Air Force in 1989, Garrel continued his career as an X-ray Technician for several private companies, most recently as part of the medical staff at Mt. Olive Federal Correctional Complex, where he worked until his retirement in 2015. Among Garrel’s favorite things to do were to watch movies, talk sports, and discuss politics. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Garrel was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Deborah Cummings Smith; brothers Dietz Smith and Edgar Smith; sisters Ethelda Smith Sink and Anna Smith Onto. He is survived his by two sons, Ian K. Smith and spouse Lauren Hancher, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Jacob R. A World War II Veteran having served from the start to finish of the war in the U.S. Army for 1 year and 4 years in the Marine Corps. He obtained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and served on the USS Wyoming. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching and was a champion target shooter. Charles loved listening to big band music, dancing and he had a great sense of humor and was a Protestant by Faith. He is survived by his wife, Ethelda Smith Sink, children, Carolyn (Okie) Thompson of Crab Orchard, Stephen Sink of Thomas Mountain, Scott (Connie) Sink of Thomas Mountain, Melissa Savage and friend Keith of Cowen, Stewart (Beverly) Sink of Normantown, Daniel (Shawana) Sink of Cowen, Charles Sink of Thomas Mountain. 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, son Bill Sink and son-in-law Gene Savage preceded him in death. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 3738 will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. on February 11, 2014.4
