Mr. Holcomb was preceded in death by his father, Reverend M. K. Holcomb and is survived by his wife, Nancy K. Holcomb; one daughter, Katherine Holcomb of Fork Mountain; his mother, Lucy A. Holcomb, Bassett; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Freeda and Randolph Brown, Carmel and Jim Powell all of Rocky Mount; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Glennis and Shirley Holcomb, Bassett, Wayne and Sherry Holcomb, Bassett, D. L. and Bobbie Holcomb, Rocky Mount; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m Monday. Interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made to the Fork Mountain Vol. Fire Department, Route 2, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151 or Fork Mountain Vol. Rescue Squad, Route 3, Box 433, Bassett, Va. 24055. Holcomb, Sr., 70, of Bassett, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke. Born on January 7, 1937 in Franklin County, the son of the late Kermit Holcomb and the late Lucy Aldridge Holcomb. Also preceded in death by brother, John Melvin Holcomb. Mr. Holcomb was a member of Fork Mountain United Methodist Church. Glennis was a semi-retired, self employed carpenter who had such unique carpentry and building skills, that many friends, neighbors, and relatives always requested his services to complete jobs. He loved to go fishing at SML and enjoyed riding his golf cart at Waterfront Park. He was an avid Nascar fan and will always be remembered as a quiet, independent man with a big heart who was very caring and giving. "Pappy" was a great carpenter who was taken too early from this life but is now the foreman for the Master Carpenter. Surviving is his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Shirley Hardy Holcomb; one son, Glennis Holcomb, Jr. of Bassett; one daughter, Cheryl Holcomb of Roanoke; and a special "granddaughter" and loving four legged companion Abby. Also surviving are two brothers and sisters in law, Wayne and Sherry Holcomb of Rocky Mount and Douglas (D.L.) and Bobbie Holcomb of Boones Mill; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Freeda Brown and Randolph Brown of Rocky Mount and Carmel Powell and Jim Powell of Rocky Mount; and sister-inlaw, Nancy K. Holcomb of Bassett; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2007 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the South Chapel of Bassett Funeral Service. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. at Henry Memorial Park with the Rev. Bob Sowder officiating. Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett is serving the Holcomb family. on November 24, 2007.2

She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Herbert (Alice) Smith of Roanoke, and Ray (Diann) Smith of Copper Hill; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Curran of Florida, and Ocie Smith of Colorado; sister-in-law, Norma Jean Smith of Roanoke; and a host of nieces and nephews.She was an amazing crafter and can well be remembered as a long time exhibitor at the Floyd County Arts and Crafts Festival. She always had that familiar smile on her face, even through her last days.Funeral Services will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Oakey's South Chapel with Pastors Doug Jones and Maurice Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery. Mr. Hollins loved the church and all those he served with, both the ministers and the church families, at the old Asheboro Street Baptist Church and the Lawndale Baptist Church, where he was a member at his passing. The family gratefully thanks Dr. Shen and his associates and the medical staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Hospice of Greensboro for their kind and compassionate care. Mr. Hollins is survived by his wife, Virginia B. Hollins; his daughters, Virginia Anne Phillips and husband, Rev. N. She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2010, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joey Phillips of Goodview Baptist Church and Chaplain Marvin Barbre of Good Samaritan Hospice officiating. Interment will be held 4 p.m. at Salem Church Cemetery (Head of the River) in Copper Hill, Va.
