November 7, 1861, and died in Elmhurst hospital, Elmhurst, Ill., of pneumonia, Feb. 29, 1932. Mrs. Reed moved to Kansas when a young girl and married George D. Reed February 23, 1893. To this union were born two sons, Walter H. and Homer D. Reed, both of Villa Park, Ill. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons, two daughter-in-laws and two grandsons, Walter H. Jr., and Robert Arthur. Short funeral services were herd from the Schneider funeral chapel at Elmhurst March 3, the Rev. Bockoven of the Community Congregational church and Rebekah lodge conducting the services. She was a member of both. The body was sent to Whiting for burial in Spring Hill cemetery beside her husband, who preceded her in death eight years ago. She was a member of Eastern Star here. She left Manhattan in the spring of 1927. on March 17, 1932.4

The same structure housed the Simpsons Post Office whose postmaster was either a Sisson or an Angle during most of its existence. During WWII, Clyne served in the U.S. Army. (His tombstone shows Tech 5 U.S. Army WWII) He was a Mason and a member of the Smith Chapel Methodist Church located across the street from the store. He SIMPSONS - Clyne Selvan Angle, 73, died at his home Friday. He owned and operated the old Angle Store located in the Locust Grove community of Floyd County which had been operated by members of the Angle Family for over a century. He was a retired postmaster with 40 years of service. He is a member of the Smith Chapel Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served as a member of the Seventh Armored Division in Germany. He was a member of the Floyd Masonic Lodge No. 329, A.F. & A.M. He is survived by his wife Myrtle Waldron Angle, of Simpsons; two sister, Mrs. Les (Glenna) Runion and Mrs. Margaret Vest, both of Check; one brother, L. C. Angle, Jr., of Abingdon. Funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Dick Dailey and the Rev. Colonel who served in Panama and the European and Pacific theaters during World War II. He retired from Appalachian Power in Abingdon with 43 years of service. L.C. enjoyed the study of history, especially that pertaining to the Civil War, and worked with the Historical Society of Washington County, serving as President for 12 years. He was a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church and served as its Treasurer for 18 years. He chaired the Washington County Courthouse Renovation Committee and served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Highlands Festival. L.C. was a devoted husband and loving father. Second only to family and his many friends, the Hokies of Virginia Tech were his true love and he actively served in the VPI Alumni Association, Southwest Virginia Chapter. L.C. was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Angle; his parents; his brother, Clyne Angle; and his sisters, Glenna Runion and Margaret Vest. He is survived by his sons, Len Angle and wife, Patty, of Radford, Va., and David Angle and wife, Mary, of Lebanon, Va; stepsons, Mike Pleasant, of Mahomet, Ill., and Dr. Scott Pleasant and wife, Kelly, of Blacksburg, Va; stepdaughter, Patty Rushing and husband, Keith, of Mahomet, Ill; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in L.C.'s name to Virginia Tech Alumni Association, Holtzman Alumni Center (0102), 901 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, VA 24061 or to Virginia Tech Athletic Fund, P.O. Box 10307, Blacksburg, VA 24062. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at KnollKreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, Va. on July 24, 2012.12
