The funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 20, 1:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd officiating and interment in the Huffville Church Cemetery. Marvin Howard Sowers married Joan Unknown circa 1982.¹ Marvin Howard Sowers died on July 27, 2012 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 67.¹ He Marvin Howard (Trail Blazer) Sowers, 67, of Roanoke, died Friday, July 27, 2012, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born August 17, 1944, he the son of the late, Marvin L. and Sylvia Sowers. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald and Larry Sowers. Marvin was a member of the Taylor Masonic Lodge 23. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Joan D. Sowers, of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Rodney Sowers and friend, Melissa Early, of Christiansburg, and Ricky Sowers (Vicky), of Blacksburg; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Turpin (Wendell) and Judy Scott (Tommy), both of Christiansburg; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Red Adams (Carol), of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Hope Bradbury (Brian), Ricky Sowers and Tori Sowers, all of Blacksburg; one great-grandchild, Grayson Bradbury; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Lotz Funeral Chapel-Vinton with Pastor David McNeill officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn.
