He had been ill for ten days. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Episcopal Church. He was born at Riffe Crossing Oct. 4, 1870, the son of the late David Miller Riffe and Manerva Johnson Riffe. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Elmore Riffe; one sister, Mrs. Frank English, Bloomington, Ill; and the following children: Mrs. A. C. Dixon, Alderson; Mrs. W. D. Paris, Beckley; Mrs. Dana Marsh, Columbus, Ohio; D. G. Riffe, Wichita Falls, Texas; T. D. Riffe, Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the Alderson Presbyterian Church Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Dupuy Holliday officiating, and burial will follow in the Alderson Cemetery. The body was removed from the Lobban Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. to the residence. It will be removed to the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday, to lie in state until the funeral hour. Active pallbearers will be Warden Paris, Thomas Dixon, Ashby Huffman, R. S. Johnson, Richard Ford, Mart Sims, Dana Marsh, and Sammy Paris. on November 10, 1948.5
