He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Joyce Manning. Surviving are his parents, Gordon W. Sr. and Thelma Manning of Roanoke County; brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer W. and Barbara Manning and Thomas G. and Mary Manning, all of Roanoke, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene L. and David Honaker of Roanoke County, Darlene D. Honaker of Roanoke, Evelyn J. and Jerry Harris of Danville and Cynthia M. and Richard Owens of Salem. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held in Sherwood Memorial Park. on June 28, 1998.1
