He was a special PaPa to seven grandchildren, whom he loved and was truly loved back, Samantha Thompson, Erin Thompson, Zack and Travis Smith, Andrew, Corey, and Callie Thompson, all of Salem; one great-grandson, Kamrhen Thompson; one brother, Kaufman Thompson of Floyd; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Elma Turman of Floyd, Aileen and James St. Clair, Avis and Golden Beckner, all of Roanoke, Lois and Parris Hammond of Salem; two very special friends, Bill Nichols and Craig Schneider. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, August 7 in the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. John Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., both Saturday and Sunday at Lotz Salem Chapel. Flowers would be appreciated but please consider the Salem Rescue Squad.      Arminta Clementine Clark was buried at Green Hill Cemetery, Union, Monroe Co., West Virginia.8,6,7 She was born on May 6, 1854 at Turkey Creek, Monroe Co., West Virginia.9,4 She married Dexter Campbell Elmore, son of Elder Andrew Jackson "Andy" Elmore and Elizabeth Murray "Betsy" Walker, on January 19, 1870 at Monroe Co., West Virginia.8,4,5,6 As of January 19, 1870,her married name was Elmore.5 Arminta Clementine Clark died on February 8, 1933 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia, at age 78.9,4,6,7 She Mrs. Araminta Clark Elmore, aged 78 years, of near Pence Spgs., widow of the late Mr. Dexter C. Elmore, died in the Hinton Hospital early Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 8, 1933, after receiving treatment for about three weeks for bronchial pneumonia. Mrs. Elmore was one of the most highly esteemed and respected ladies of this section. She was born near Union, being a daughter of the late Samuel M. and Martha (Ballard) Clark. She grew to womanhood here and was united in marriage at Union to Mr. Dexter C. Elmore of Craig Co., VA. Shortly after her marriage, she and her husband went to Alderson where he served several terms as postmaster. About 43 yrs. ago, he preceded her to the grave, and Mrs. Elmore then completed his term as postmistress under President Harrison. A short time after this she resided in Hinton for a few years and then moved to Spencer, N.C., where she lived for several years with a son. Ten years ago she returned to West Virginia and had since made her home on a farm near Pence Spgs., Summers Co. Mrs. Elmore was a life-long member of the Protestant Episcopal Church, and was actively identified with the work of her church in all places of her residence. A lovely unselfish life was hers on earth and all about her felt the sweet influence of her sympathetic heart and dauntless spirit. Mrs. Elmore is survived by two sons, Mr. A.D. Elmore of Pence Spgs., and Dr. H.G. Elmore of Charleston; two daughters, Mrs. T.J. Riffe of near Pence Spgs., and Mrs. A.C. Atkins of Richmond, VA. She leaves one brother, Mr. Shelton Clark, and one sister, Mrs. C.E. Lynch, both of Union. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at 1 PM at the home of her grandaughter, Mrs. C.A. Dixon in Alderson, conducted by Rev. Geo. J. Cleveland of Hinton, after which the body was brought to Union where interment was made in Green Hill Cemetery. on February 16, 1933.6
