James Charles Rogers Sr. was born on December 30, 1932 at Sebring, Highlands Co., Florida.2,3 He married Roberta Jane Conner, daughter of Elmer Edgar Conner and Genia Johnson "Jean" McGhee, on November 24, 1956 at Rich Creek, Giles Co., Virginia.1,4,2 James Charles Rogers Sr. died on July 18, 2016 at Virginia at age 83.3 He James Charles Rogers Sr., 83, of Cloverdale, Va., went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Monday, July 18, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born on December 30, 1932, in Sebring, Fla. J.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gertrude; and granddaughter, Maleah Rogers. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Roberta Rogers, who stood by side every step of the way as he fought his illness; his brother, Carlton and wife, Audry; children, Renee Ayres (Scott), Lynette Smith (Gary) and James Rogers (Rhonda). J.C. loved spending time his grandchildren, Sarah, Clay, Nikki, Courtney, Ashley, Cody, Conner and Alexandra. He was blessed to see the birth of three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Riley and Madilyn. J.C. was a lifetime member of Cloverdale Church of the Brethren, where he was active as a Deacon, served on the Commission of Stewards and Properties and ushered. After retiring, he and Roberta completed over 20 disaster ministry trips, as well as, eight service projects in Jamaica. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Clement Elechi and nurse, Mary Martin, our church family, and a heartfelt thanks to Lynette for daytime love and friends care and to Ashley and Jacob for evening support. on July 20, 2016.3

Sowers died on November 3, 1910 at Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 82.1,2,5,4 She Mrs. Hannah Spangler died Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dillard W. Sowers, near Camp Creek. She was about 89 years old and had been an invalid for several years. She was helpless, blind and could not talk as her tongue was paralyzed, and had been for sometime. Her funeral was preached at Pine Creek church on Friday by Elds. Asa Bowman and W.H. Naff, after which she was laid to rest by the side of her husband, who had preceded her some fifty years ago. She leaves two living sons, Eld. S.G. Spangler, and Abraham Spangler, and two daughters, Mrs. Dillard Sowers and Mrs. Wm. Proffit, all of this county. She also leaves a number of grand children and great grand children as well as a host of other relatives to mourn her death. We extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
