     Lydia Demercy "Mersey" Conner Funeral services for Mrs. Demercy Palmer, 65, who died Sunday night at her home, 1724 Wise Avenue, S.E., will be conducted at the residence at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. L. N. Knizie, pastor of the Green Hill Brethren church, The Rev. Isaac Shaver, of the Copper Hill Brethren church, and the Rev. S. B. Orrell, pastor of the Waverly Place Baptist church. Internment will be in Fairview. Surviving are her husband, G. W. Palmer; three daughters, Mrs. John H. Sears, Salem; Mrs. A. H. Wimmer, Roanoke; Mrs. W. R. Carpenter, Norris, Tenn; six sons, R. P. and L. M. Palmer, Roanoke county; T. W. and J. W. Palmer, Radford; W. P. Palmer, Covington; and M. P. Palmer, Roanoke; twin sister, Mrs. James Conner, Roanoke; and four brothers, Rhyle and Henry Conner, Floyd county; Hade and Sam Conner, of West Virginia.⁵ She was buried at Fair View Cemetery, 3300 Melrose Ave. N.W., Roanoke, Virginia.^2,5 She was born on October 16, 1870 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,4 She married George William Palmer, son of John B. Palmer and Parthenia Thomas, on November 14, 1887 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,5,4 As of November 14, 1887,her married name was Palmer.      Catherine Funk was buried at Wilson Cemetery, Daniel's Run Road (Rt. 661), Locust Grove, Floyd Co., Virginia.² She was born in October, 1845 at Grayson Co., Virginia.^3,2 She married Fleming Valentine Wilson, son of Isaac Wilson and Elsa/Aisley "Elsie" Cole, on June 11, 1868 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,2 As of June 11, 1868,her married name was Wilson. Catherine Funk died on January 13, 1936 at Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 90.²

     Susan Wilson was born circa 1848 at Floyd Co., Virginia.¹ She Not enumerated with her family in the 1860 Census on June 26, 1860.²

     Leonard Aldredge was buried at Head of the River Cemetery (also known as Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery), Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.² He Leonard was a sheriff and an early member of the county court.² He was born circa 1789 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.² He married Catherine Flynt on April 18, 1809 at Stokes Co., North Carolina.³ Leonard Aldredge died in December, 1854 at Floyd Co., Virginia.²

I will and bequeath unto my dear and loving wife, that part of my Land whereon I now live, Beginning at Reed's cabin and down that spring branch as it runs to the mouth of Leonard's spring branch and then down the road that goes to Sowders, to Sowder line end [?], And the third part of all my Stock household furniture beds and bedding [?] plantation tools [?] during her life and after her Decease the land to be divided as I shall hereafter direct. If my wife should marry the Land shall be divided between Ezekal and Leonard, the balance of my moveable property and stock shall be divided as follows, that is whereas some of my daughters has had some part of my property more than the rest before any division is made, they shall have equally alike and the balance to be divided equally between four daughters. My land (except my wife's part) I will unto my two Sons to be divided as follows, beginning at Sowders line, at the head of the Spring at the cross fence and with that fence as it runs to the meadow and to continue the same course in a direct line to the appraisable [?] line that to be line between them each to that part he now lives on.      Elizabeth Jane Conner was buried at Head of the River Cemetery (also known as Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery), Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.^4,7,5 She was born on October 16, 1871 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^3,4,7 She married Charles Lewis Conner, son of Albert Conner and Mary Jane Iddings, on February 17, 1887 at Floyd Co., Virginia.³ Elizabeth Jane Conner died on April 18, 1953 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 81.^4,7,5 She Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Conner, 82, died Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Palmer, RFD 3, Salem. Surviving are six sons and four other daughters: Jesse Conner, Baltimore; Ivy Conner, Willard Conner, Murrill Conner, Earl Conner, William Conner, Mrs. Gay Hall, Mrs. Ocie Morgan, Mrs. Dorothy Higgins and Mrs. Ethel Lloyd, Roanoke; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Conner, Roanoke County; 28 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be conducted at Head of the River Church, Floyd County. Interment will be in the Church cemetery. on April 19, 1953.⁵

     Massie Ann "Masa" King was buried at Wimmer Cemetery, Mercer Co., West Virginia.² She was born on May 26, 1809 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,2,5 She married Samuel D. Wimmer Sr., son of Jacob Wimmer Jr. and Mary Margaret "Polly" Capper, on January 24, 1827 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,3,5 As of January 24, 1827,her married name was Wimmer. Massie Ann "Masa" King died in 1910 at Tazewell Co., Virginia.²

     John King was born on July 7, 1801 at Virginia. He married Nancy Wimmer, daughter of Jacob Wimmer Jr. and Mary Margaret "Polly" Capper, on December 11, 1824 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.¹ John King died on September 19, 1869 at Grant Co., Indiana, at age 68.

     Nancy Wimmer was born in 1804 at Franklin Co., Virginia. She married John King on December 11, 1824 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.¹ As of December 11, 1824,her married name was King. Nancy Wimmer died circa 1880.

     Elizabeth Clingenpeel was born circa 1817 at Franklin Co., Virginia.² As of January 25, 1841,her married name was Mills.¹ She married Andrew Mills, son of Arthur Mills and Nancy West, on January 25, 1841 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,2

     Jacob O. King was born circa 1816 at Franklin Co., Virginia.¹ He married Mary "Polly" Mills, daughter of Arthur Mills and Nancy West, on March 5, 1838 at Franklin Co., Virginia.¹

     George Sowers was buried at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, intersection of Rt. 693 and Rt. 615, Floyd Co., Virginia; His tombstone reads "PVT Continental Line Revolutionary War."¹ He was born in 1750 at York Co., Pennsylvania.^1,3 He married Anna Elizabeth Spangler circa 1780.³ George Sowers died on March 18, 1834 at Floyd Co., Virginia.³

     Berkley Allen Rierson was buried at Head of the River Cemetery (also known as Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery), Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.^8,4,9 He was born on September 16, 1898 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^8,1,2,9 He married Annie Jane Randolph, daughter of Enoch Statts Randolph and Dora Ellen Shank, on March 5, 1924 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,4 Berkley Allen Rierson died on November 24, 1953 at Check, Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 55.^8,4,10,9 He Berkley A. Rierson, 55, died at his Check home Monday. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Rierson; a son, William A. Rierson, Air Force; three daughters, Blondine Rierson, Shelby Jean Rierson, both of Check, Mrs. Sherman Moran, Check; two brothers, Frank Rierson, Harley Rierson, both of Check; two sisters, Mrs. Hobert Aldrege, Check; Mrs. Douglas Gray, Floyd. on November 25, 1953.¹⁰

Funeral was scheduled Tuesday, Nov. 12, 11 a.m. at Salem Church with Elder W. T. Conner and Rev. Raymond Martin officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. on November 14, 1991.²
