He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969 and later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and Management from Concord College and then a Master's Degree from West Virginia University. For the past 16 years he has been employed by the West Virginia State Tax Department as an auditor in the Property Tax Division. Over the years Richard had been a member of the UMWA having worked in the coal mines, worked as a manager of Shoney's in Princeton, Bluefield and Charlotte, N.C. Richard loved coaching his sons and other young people in Little League baseball and football and was instrumental in the construction of Gardner Field. He was an avid supporter of WVU football and basketball. Richard was a member of the Princeton Jaycees and Kiwanis and attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Charles Casey. Richard is survived by two sons, Richard T. Casey Jr. of Princeton and Charles Jeffrey Casey and wife Lesley Schumacher Casey of Sumter, S.C; and a daughter, Robyn Hudgins Belcher and husband John of Blacksburg, Va. In addition, he was adored by granddaughter, Krista Casey Johnson and husband Jason; and grandson, Chad Casey of Johnson City, Tenn; granddaughter, Savannah Casey; and grandson, Preston Raymond Casey of Sumter, S.C; and granddaughter, Shanna; granddaughter, Shanna; grandsons, Zachary and Jakob of Blacksburg, Va. He is survived by five sisters, Joan Casey Ellis Lyons of Richmond, Va., Patricia Casey Basham of Chattanooga, Tenn., Mary Casey Walkup of Buckeye, Frances Casey Knowles of Van Nuys, Calif. and Maureen Casey of Chimaltenango, Guatemala; one brother, Robert Casey of Elkins; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Father Paul Wharton officiating. The West Virginia Honor Guard will conducted military services. Following the service, the family will honor his request, and his body will be cremated, and he then will be laid to rest with his father and brother at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Greg enjoyed the outdoors, especially riding motorcycles, hunting, waterskiing, and spending quality time with his family. Greg loved servicing the Lord. He was a devoted husband, father and uncle. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbie Conner. Left to cherish his memories, laughter and love of life is his caring and devoted wife of 34 years, Mary Katherine Conner; along with their loving children, Gregory Conner II and his wife Ellen of Greenville, SC, Heather Conner of Piedmont, SC, and Brandi Stone and her husband Brandt of Honea Path, SC. Greg is survived by his siblings: Mitch Conner, Kenneth Conner Jr., Rodney Conner, and Cheryl Pressly, along with their spouses and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to a service in celebration of his life at 3:00 pm Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Grace Christian Church in Greenville, South Carolina with Wyatt and Debbie Brown of?ciating. on May 27, 2013.2
