She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Spencer Brookfield; a granddaughter, Pamela Lynn Hawkins; two sisters, Ethel Mae Cochran and Grace McGhee along with a brother, Cpl. Lawrence Furrow who was killed in W.W. II; a seven year old and two infant brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hawkins, Betty Farley and husband, Dr. Daniel, all of Princeton; granddaughter, Kimberleigh White and husband, Kendall of Roanoke, Va; along with a great-granddaughter, Pamela Ann White, also of Roanoke; and her only living sister, Elsie Manning Lancaster of Roanoke. A graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Va. with Dr. Daniel Farley officiating. The family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton, W.Va. on September 4, 2002.4

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mazie Wimmer Lancaster; his second wife, Elsie Manning Lancaster; sister, Ivy Grant; and brothers, Roy Dean, Herman, Lee and Taz Lancaster. He served in the Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church for more than 40 years. He retired from DuPont, where he worked as a mechanic for more than 35 years. Lancaster was a musician and played six instruments in his 30 years as a member of the Spiritualairs Quartet. Surviving are a son, Gil Stevens Lancaster of Collinsville; and a step-grandchild. on June 13, 2010.1

The family moved to Charleston when "Sonny," as he was known to family and friends, was a baby. He graduated from Charleston high school in February, 1936. He formerly was a member of Boy Scouts' troop No. 38, and was a bugler of city-wide reputation. Surviving him are his parents and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Deisher Smith. Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist Episcopal church, South, at 2:30 o'clock Thursday, under charge of Rev. B. P. Taylor, a former pastor. Burial will he in Sunset Memorial park. Pallbearers will be Denvil Taylor, Paul Williamson, Denzil Gainer, Arthur Thomas, Floyd Tillson and J. W. Corder, Jr. on July 13, 1938.2

Conner and Louisa his wife and Nathan Conner and Eliza his wife. Isaac Conner and Caroline his wife, and Daniel P. Conner and Elizabeth his wife, and Andrew Conner and Matilda his wife heirs and representative of William Conner deceased of the one and first part all of the County of Floyd and State of Virginia and William P. Conner of the county and state aforesaid of the second part witnesses that for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and seventy five dollars in hand paid to the said Jacob P. Conner and Louisa his wife and Nathan Conner and Eliza his wife and Isaac Conner and Caroline his wife and Daniel P. Conner and Elizabeth his wife and Andrew Conner and Matilda his wife heirs and representatives as aforesaid of William Conner deceased have this day bargain and sell ______released and confirmed and by these presents do bargain and sell _________release and confirm unto the said William P. Conner all there whole sole and entire interest right and title to all the land Estate belonging to them as heirs and representatives of the aforesaid William Conner deceased and do forever warrant and free from us or any of our liens or any persons claiming under us and we Daniel P. Conner and Elizabeth his wife has for and in consideration of the above mentioned consideration also bargained and sold and do forever bargain and sell unto the said William P. Conner and do forever relinquish any claims that they may of had to the aforesaid _____ estate of William Conner deceased previous to his death and do also forever warrant and _____ the same free from us or any of our heirs in witness, whereof the parties hereto subscribed our names and as said seals this date above writing. F. Wickham was called to Covel, W. Va., yesterday on account of the death of his brother, Byrd Wickham, who died yesterday morning following a lingering lllness. Mr. Wickham is survived by his widow and one son, Kinsie Wickham. on February 15, 1933.10
