Irvin said last night death apparently was self-inflicted. Vest's body was found by a cousin who went to visit him. Investigating officers said he was sitting in a chair in the bedroom, a shotgun with one shell discharged under the bed at his feet. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Claudie Hughes Vest of Roanoke; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Vest of Floyd County; and three a sisters, Mrs. L. C. Vest and Mrs. W. B. Austin of Floyd County, and Mrs. N. C. Shaver of Roanoke. Entombment will be in Sherwood Abby. on March 31, 1952.10
