Edith was born in Ironto, Virginia January 8, 1920 to the late William ' Pete' and Ocie Ella Poff Booth. Edith was a nature specialists for the Girl Scouts. She was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 2003, She managed a apartment complex in Cincinnati, Ohio. Edith did various jobs in her lifetime she worked construction plus being a homemaker. Edith had been affilated with the Glenmary Home Missioners here in Lewis County since 1989 where she had over 11,000 first time visitors from the farm. Edith was preceded in death beside her parents were her husband Lloyd E. Smith in December of 1982 a friend and companion Arthur G. Lewis in 1993, 5-brothers, and a grandson Michael Shelley. Surviving Edith are two daughters- Eda Marie (Pat) Gebell of Tucson, Arizona and Mary Ellen (Oscar) Shelley of Cincinnati, Ohio. 4-grandchildren, Tina Clary, Carole Walters, Laura Forste, and Tony Shelley. 7-great grandchildren, and 6-great-great-grandchildren who will also mourn her passing. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 am October 7, 2016 at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179 with Brother Chris Lawhun officiating. Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery Tannery, Kentucky. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 pm and from 8:00am until time of services Friday at the Gaydos Funeral Home. Pallbearers for Vivian Edith 'Wildwoman' Smith will be Jim Clary, David Clary, Hawke Berwanger, Zach Walters, Chris Walters, David Dehart, Brad Forste, Oscar Shelley, and Tony Shelley.4 Her married name was Smith.1 She married Lloyd Edgar Smith.5,4 Vivian Edith Maude "Wildwoman" Boothe was born on January 8, 1924 at Ironto, Montgomery Co., Virginia.4 She died on October 1, 2016 at Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio, at age 92.4

Mrs. Maxey succumbed to a illness Thursday morning at 7:45 o'clock in a local hospital. Interment will be made in Sherwood Burial Park. The deceased is survived by his husband, her mother, Mrs. Annies Dewease; one daughter, Thelma, and five sons; five brothers, M. E. Dewease, Alfred Dewease, and M. M. Dewease of Roanoke county, O. C. Dewease of Elliston, and F. C. Dewease of Blacksburg; and four sisters, Mrs. Gertie Boggs Narrows, Mrs. Curtis Munsey of Glenar, Mrs. Myrtle Sites of Blacksburg, and Mrs. Perma Fagg of Blacksburg. on May 20, 1932.3
