David was born to Benjamin and Margaret Herr in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on July 14, 1940 with siblings Lawrence, Judy, Barbara, and Mitch Herr. David joined the Air Force and proudly served in Vietnam. David married the love of his life, Peggy Jo Pataro, on February 17, 1962. David retired from the Air Force, then worked and retired from General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, and Boeing. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Manitou Springs, Colorado. We will miss him so much, but we thank the Lord for letting us share his journey. David is survived by his wife, Peggy; his daughter Gayle Mendoza of Manitou Springs, Colorado; his son Christopher Herr of Cascade, Colorado; his son Jeffery Herr of Fort Worth, Texas; as well as 8 grandchildren and a great grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM with a reception to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colorado Springs on June 10, 2011. The final resting place will be in his home town of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. on June 8, 2011.2

     Georgia Joyce Harrison was buried at Pioneer Cemetery, 1000 4th Street, Graham, Young Co., Texas.3,4 She was born on July 9, 1929 at Pampa, Gray Co., Texas.3,4 As of 1953,her married name was Akers.3 She married Billy Fred Akers, son of James William "Will" Akers and Alma Matilda McCluskey, in 1953.1,2,5,3 Georgia Joyce Harrison died on April 6, 2020 at Graham, Young Co., Texas, at age 90.3 She Georgia Joyce Akers (she preferred to be called Joyce) passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6th at her home in Graham. Joyce was born on July 9, 1929 in Pampa, Texas to the late Blanche Hamner Harrison and the late Richard Marion Harrison. Joyce and her family moved to Bryson, Texas where she grew up from the age of six onwards. In 1953, she married Graham’s Billy Fred Akers. Joyce and Billy Fred stayed in Graham to raise their family, run their oil field supply business, and otherwise enjoy small-town Texas life. Joyce was a beautifully spiritual person who had a gift for making everything around her beautiful too. She loved long road trips, gardening, flowers, interior design, and decorating for all the holidays. Joyce was famous for her impeccable style and grace. She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend who kept those she treasured close to her heart. Joyce was preceded in death by Billy Fred in 2007 after 54 years of marriage; by sons Richard Bell and David J. Akers; by her sister Shirley Hall Gibbins. Survivors include daughters Suzette Akers of Denton and Lissa Akers and her partner Kevin Thiemann of Benbrook; granddaughter Michele Akers Saldivar of San Antonio and her two children; best friends Mildred Ruth Bruce and Kathy McCain; sister-in-law Mary Jane Byerly; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce will be laid to rest beside her beloved Billy Fred in Pioneer Cemetery in Graham. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. on April 10, 2020.3

He was born on October 2, 1951 to Georgia Joyce Harrison and Billy Fred Akers. David was very giving in his life, and continued to give in death, as he donated his body and brain to research on Alzheimer's Disease. David married Debra Ann Carson in Graham on November 15, 1991. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, NRA, Graham Booster Club, Rotary Club, and Petroleum Landman Association. David was a big fan of sports, he especially loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Longhorns, and of course, the Graham Steers. David loved his family dearly and was a wonderful husband and loving Papaw. "Jim" Akers, USAF Ret., 75, of Daleville, and formerly of Fork Union, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Jim was born July 1, 1940 in Graham, Texas. He was the son of the late J.C. and Jessie M. O'Rear Akers and lived in Daleville for the last two years. Jim proudly served as a navigator in the United States Air Force and retired after 21 years of service. He served three tours of duty in Viet Nam, one year in Korea, and three years in Alaska. Jim recently retired as Director of Admissions for Fork Union Military Academy after 20 years of service, and is a member of Fincastle Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon K. Boone Akers; daughters and son-in-law, Melynda and Nizar Ghuneim of Concord, North Carolina, and Marci Akers of Matthews, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Jillian Ghuneim, and Jessica Ferguson. A memorial service will be held at Fork Union Baptist Church at a later date. Inurnment with full military honors provided by The United States Air Force Honor Guard will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 5550 Bagging Plant Road, Dublin, Virginia. on February 6, 2016.2
